Does the SM7 windscreen actually fit properly, or is it kinda loose fitting? I wouldn't want it to look off axis and shitty simply because I want to reduce plosives.

The SM7 windscreen has a black plastic ring at the base that fits perfectly - much better than the windscreen that comes with the MV7.

This was super helpful. I started using the MV7 within the last few months, and I couldn't figure out how to solve the plosives issues. Probably gonna drive to a music store right now to get the RK345 windscreen. Waiting days for Amazon? Ain't nobody got time for that. =)

Here’s my issue. The MK345 on the SM7 is going to be a tighter fit and the diaphragm is also longer than the MV7. What you end up with is a loose fit and gap between windscreen and diaphragm. I haven’t purchased one yet, but this is my assessment. Mise well spend the extra bucks on the SM7.

Definitely not a loose fit at all. The gap is the same distance from the end of the foam screen to the beginning of the mic capsule for the MV7 as it is for the SM7.

Just purchased the MV7 today and did a couple of tests. Didn’t notice the Plosives being that bad. Great isolation on this mic. If you don’t mind, going to provide a link to a short video I did with the mic using USB. I’m going to order the MK345 from Amazon as well based on your response @PianoManChuck. This mic is much better than my Blue Yeti that has served me for years.

I don't have an MV7X here to test with, but as far as I know, the MV7X and MV7 are completely identical except that the MV7X is XLR only (no USB connection).

The SM7 windscreen is significantly longer than MV7. This means there is an air gap at the end meaning your mouth is further from the pickup adding attenuation. Still works good, but not sure this is the ideal solution.

The SM7 mic itself has its mic capsule sufficiently further than the mic cage end.
