Shure MV88+ Video Microphone Kit - Review & Test

The MV88 Plus is a really compact, high quality stereo condenser microphone that been designed to work with iOS and android devices, so it’s perfect for recording mobile live sessions and vloggers.
The mic itself is features all metal construction, so it’s really tough and durable, and it’s got a detachable windshield which obviously is a bit of a must for outdoor recording. You connect your device via a mini usb cable, you will need to download the free Shure Motiv app to your phone or tablet, which allows you to control parameters such as mic gain and the stereo width, and there’s also a 3.5mm headphone socket on the back of the mic so you can monitor what your recording.
The kit doesn’t just include the microphone though, you also get a really versatile mounting system which comprises of a top quality manfrotto mini tripod and an adjustable phone holder.
Now there’s loads of different way you can configure the stand, the mic can be positioned to be either forwards or backwards facing, you don’t actually have to use the phone mount if you don’t want to as the mic clip can also connect directly to the tripod stand, ideal for podcasters, the angle of that tripod is really quick and easy to adjust, and if you fold in the legs, it makes a really comfortable handle for a vlogging setup, which also gives you a much smoother shot than if you were holding your phone directly. Not only that, in the box you also get a roll up neoprene wallet to store all the components of the kit, and it comes supplied with the choice of either lightening or micro usb cables, depending on the device that you’re using.

@@F.elip3 I think it's probably about 7. It is very useful and I use it to make the youtube videos on my channel so you can hear the quality on there. The tripod is a bit finicky if I am honest and I have never managed to hear anything through the headphone socket. However, I don't really need the monitor option because I keep the settings constant for each video. I hope this is helpful but ask away.

Using the Acapella app I'm having latency problems with an MV88 using Bluetooth earphones. Subsequent parts recorded on Acapella are not in synch with previously recorded parts. Will the MV88+ solve that problem with wired earphones?

Juan Guerrero the actual video part depends wholly on your phone’s camera, but the audio should be the same no matter what.

Yes it does, the old mv88 only had a lightning port but this one has an USB b port and comes with a USB c cable as well as a lightning one
