I've been on the male side of such a date. The girl who I had lunch with said her aunt is the one always setting her up. IMO if you're meeting people from online dating apps anyway then there's really not much of a difference, it's not gonna waste too much of your time, most likely you'll just enjoy some food, and you'll need to eat food anyway. It's only bad if you actually have a phobia of dates or something. Otherwise there's not much difference between getting matched by algorithm vs getting matched by aunt. There's pros and cons but I think the net effect is not clearly better or worse. Sure you might meet some people that have no potential just because SOMEONE ORDERED CHINESE, but you'll also spare yourself from various other avenues of disappointment from online apps such as getting creeps or catfishers.
