Well the BOS is different depending on the game. In fnv for example the brotherhood is secluded because of bad leadership and being outclassed by other factions. In the earlier fallouts fallout 2 for example the brotherhood is basically everywhere similar to the NCR. In fallout 4 they are at their most powerful and not as fragile therefore theyre more trusting of new recruits. Besides he is basically offering you the brotherhood equivalent of an internship

In my eyes the brotherhood realized that taking in outsiders was the right thing to do (especially since thats something that a lot of members wanted for a while), not letting in new members nearly ended up being their downfall. It makes sense for them to be more open for entry now that theyre more powerful

My reaction to Fallout 4 Hypocrites of Steal?: Brutal death to feed my endless hunger, instead of one of the 42 people in MY Sanctuary, baring Danse I have him guarding the front door with a laser minigun, while Preston is in the Sniper's nest, Cait is guarding the back door (not just because my house is right next to it, certainly not), Piper is... usually on the scavenging station or Mutfruit fields... Codsworth is... I think Red Rocket guarding the second drug den I run.... Dogmeat is guarding the water supply, and the robots are helping me stay at around 200 Defense from Guard Posts, in addition to the 40 machine gun turrets, 10 (at each watch point) Laser turrets, 3 (at each watch point) Spotlights, and my 30 floors up Missile Turret base section with around 100 Missile turrets guarding the airspace... The obvious thing, the brotherhood of steal tries taking my drugs I get a free feast, and free supplies... If i can find the crashed Vertibird...

After a lot of playthroughs I'm really not a fan of the Brotherhood (on F4) but man you really should do that playthrough at least once. Their endgame quest to destroy the Institute where you basically roam with their version of Optimus Prime is truly a sight to behold. Promise you won't regret it!

given the alternatives are the minutemen or the railroad, the brotherhood is the fastest way to the institute. you also get a free suit of t60 power armor, which isn't bad when you're joining them. the problem comes that they're just as, if not more so, evil as the institute. they will commit genocide, "coerce" local farms into giving them food and are generally racist. that is, if you can count ghouls as a race.

As soon as you can get aquaboy, that opens up the option to swim to the atom cats garage. There is an unattended suit of T-60, minus the helmet, if I remember correctly, just steal it off of the fra me and bam, T-60 as soon as level two, if ya give a shet.

@@janvannieuwkerk3716 There’s still ambushes here and there from what remains of the BoS at Enclave checkpoints and such, also the occasional raider and super mutant attack. BoS still do some mad damage though so they will always be a threat. Even with Power Armor they can mess you up. Also the FEV is supposed to take time to disperse. If the story was canon and it continued after releasing the FEV I would imagine yes, every living being with a substantial amount of radiation contamination would die out.
