September 16th, 2000 at Club Soda. Disturbed, Kittie and Shuvel 🤘🏿What a show! I am so glad I got to see Shuvel once. From that show on, I decided to never miss an opening band in case I discover a fantastic band like I did that day!

I always thought the same thing and I feel like part of the reason why they didn't have the level of mainstream success as some of the other more well known nu metal bands of that era has something to do with the raw reality of their music. I think if they had toned down their subject matter, imagery and overall message they might have been more popular but I'm so glad that they didn't do that. These dudes kept it real and said a lot of things that needed to be said. Especially when you take into consideration the climate of the times back then. The nation had been rocked by the Columbine massacre, people were pretty on edge and mental health was still a pretty taboo, touchy subject to discuss.
@judsonsnell2 жыл бұрын
Because they were completely derivative of NuMetal groups who were already on the decline. This ticks literally every box, right down to the phonetically misspelled single-word band name. White guy rapper with the same flow as Limp Bizkit? Yup. Quiet verses into screamed hooks with halftime breakdown? Check. Snare drum tuned like a tennis racquet? Yes. Hip hop cliches and baggy pants? Check and check. Even their logo looks like a fourth-generation copy of a copy of a copy. I'm sure that Interscope A&R intervention sealed that coffin shut. They were not in the business of originality by that point, pouring groups of four and five people into their formulaic funnel to go 'fetch daddy another hit'. This isn't anything against any of the members of the group as people or players - but the music itself is so painfully unoriginal by every conceivable metric.

This is the only band that has talked about teenage and 20 something mental health. A topic that’s in very need to be talked about even over 23 years after this song came out. Obviously this was just after Columbine and no one was talking about the mental health of those 2 guys that shot up the school, except this band. Mental health issues still need to be talked about.

@TheCaliCrusher13 жыл бұрын
I saw these guys for the first time @ Dragonfest 2001 in San Bernardino California and these guys are HYPE!!! The stage dive, they jump like Jordan on stage. AND THEY ARE LOUD!!! I then got their single with this song and "Hit List" and I said I have to find this album. About a year later, I found it and never regretted buying. The album "Set It Off" is worth every penny. This is probably the hardest bands never commercialized.

@gongboy83 That's very true. I saw them open up for Linkin Park and Taproot @ Dragonfest 2001 in San Bernardino California. The stage diving got me amped, but the music sent me over the edge.
