It wasn't this height when it was built. It was around 60 ft. It went to over a 100 ft during the 15th century and over 300 ft in 18th century.

I am sure you will love it, they have one of a kind sunrise not to be missed, unique temples different from other parts of Myanmar, tattoo ladies, walking in the village in the early morning is a great experience as you will see people carrying produce on their heads of buckets to fetch water and their market

The Shwedagon pagoda is the most sacred Buddhist pagoda in both Myanmar and entire world.It has been there for over 2600 years ago. Built on the 52 metre(169 ft)high of Singuttara Hill,the 112m (367 ft)tall pagoda stands170m(over560 ft)above sea level and dominates the Yangon skyline.Yangon's zoning regulations, which cap the maximum height of buildings to 127 metres (417 feet) above sea level (75% of the pagoda's sea level height).

It cannot be 2600 years old. Buddha himself was born around 564 BC. And Buddhist architecture matured in India till 4th century AD. So the oldest part of this site will be at most 1500 years old.
