Hi, I saw your video explaining why no neutral is needed for a 3 phase motor. It was very informative. I have a question; where a 3 phase power + neutral is entering a facility, as the 3 hot lines are serving different circuits (of single phase) that are likely with not balanced loads, so the neutrals coming back from those single phase circuits will have current. My question is will the neutral at the main panel going back to the power co. have current in it? If it does why wouldn't the current flow back into the facility through the bonding of the ground line. It will be nice if you can make a video about this situation.

Great question, if you watch my three phase playlist you'll find an answer to this question in the videos where we calculate neutral current. The answer may surprise you... Three Phase: kzbin.info/aero/PL7eNzIRgKe055yGSS4TaKks1WVQ2JDsKU

@@JoeRobinsonTraining Hi, thanks for referring me to your three phase playlist, I watched it, it is very informative. I read currents off one of our factory's sub panels serving single phase loads, and calculated current in the neutral following your first method by plotting the lines current using autoCAD, And found the calculated value very close to the meter value. That's interesting. I tried to measure current in neutral of the factory's main panel but cable was too thick to fit in the amp meter. Could there be current in neutral of the factory main panel?

Almost definitely. 👍

Joe. More great lessons! Question: If Inductive Reactance and Capacitive Reactance oppose the effects of each other, how do they then affect Impedance -- together, in combination? I assume one doesn't cause Impedance to rise while the other causes Impedance to fall. Is there a formula explaining how they affect Impedance in concert when a circuit contains both Inductive Reactance and Capacitive Reactance? I feel like I must be missing a "piece of the puzzle." Thanks, Joe!
