Nobody misses good ol' days of the good ol' Sia more than... she does. I think she's still the same goddess she used to be, just keeping her distance from us, mortals, now. The crazy ride with us (all the touring and partying involved) almost killed her. I still hope she'll be back... you know - fully live.

Dat ad libs at the end tho! I like her high notes here, very pleasant and warm. Her low notes is husky, older and seductive, yet her voice thins out when she's reaching those high notes, producing a warm, young and bright sound. The way her voice changes, gosh she's a living and breathing saxophone! A saxophone, yes that is a compliment :)

This is a true diamond in the rough. The only thing holding it back is the quality of the video, SIa is just magnificent and her adorable, quirky audience interactions always make me smile. it’s not like she’s a soulless pop star. she’s still very much herself. her wig gimmicks in the goal to remain anonymous just speaks to her unchanged disposition. the music is still great, i personally enjoy Real Problems a bit more but Lie to Me from “Music” was excellent

When she makes ballads or deep singles she has still soul in her vocals...but now she's making happy music for fun, because she lives ealthy and happy.
@bd95316 жыл бұрын
Respect what you say but don’t agree she doesn’t have natural soul in her modern work. I think there’s loads of soul (particularly re other artists). But it is different and perhaps harder to perceive through the prism of the modern production, stadium performances, movie soundtracks etc. Agree this performance is particularly sublime though... Fact is she isn’t performing live to small audiences or in an intimate studio setting like this in public at the moment... so it’s hard to compare. Oh what a treat it is when she does though!

Agreed--when I came across Zero 7 and realized she was the same person with the wig in the pop songs I was as surprised as your students. For me there's no question her power and emotionality now gets buried beneath production that bolsters less-gifted singers. It's still there, but not like THIS. I'm glad she's happy, healthy, and enjoying broad success. But Lamborghinis don't really need after-market additions.

It's so funny how she has quite a child-like way of behaviour, and presenting, doesn't mean anything really and not meant as a put down at all, but it's just funny with that introduction - and as soon as she sings it's immediately a woman singing into that microphone. There's a real adult sound to her voice, exceptionally expressive with the way she moves the tones and drags out the words. Very beautiful, I don't much like a huge variety of her songs, but I adore her voice, it's absolutely gorgeous.

This is, by far, my favorite version of Somersault that Sia performs. It has a jazz tempo and sound compared to the zero 7 version that has a more country sound. Her vocalizations on the last half of the song really add to the performance also. That was missing in her prior version from the performance she did in studio at KCRW the year before. What a magnificent performance this was. You are a treasure to listen to Sia Furler and I love you for that. Thank You.
