As a deaf person, watching the sign language interpreter was phenomenal. He didn’t translate the lyrics word for word, he showed the underlying emotion of the song through sign. That’s one of the most amazing things about translating songs into sign, you see another layer of the song’s emotion in how one chooses to translate it.

She has the most beautiful voice ive ever heard. The way it splits and cracks soaked in emotion which some may perceive as imperfections actually make it raw and unique. Perfect. Shes definitely doing that to switch from chest to head to falsetto…. It’s awesome. We do similar things on guitar if we are jumping up an octave or two. It kinda masks the non linear parts from ears. Its not that you cant be fluid across changes but it creates a pulse or rhythm in the shapes. Clever if nor cunning skill.

I'm also a linguaphile and have learned a few languages. You've inspired me to study ASL. (As for mime, I did a bit in theatre school, and loved it, especially our mime exam where we had to tell a story to music, but my skills left much to be desired, lol.) It is not "political correctness" to suggest that a trained, expert, experienced professional be described as such. It is, at best, willful ignorance to dismiss this specialist as a mere actor, a trivial stage performer. It is akin to describing an Army general as a Ritz Hotel doorman. There's nothing un-PC about my username. "a.k.a. Slasher" is a nickname I was given in the early '80s by a well-known science fiction novelist in joking reference to people who were too humor-impaired to see a joke right in front of them. On rare occasion my nom d'utilisateur will be noticed by somebody who was in on the joke way back then. Sadly, the numbers of us who remain are falling steadily.

You captured the emotion of the song perfectly, your hands, arms, body transmitting the pain, confusion, shame, everything that the lyrics speak of, in just as masterfully a way as Sia does with her voice. It was beyond moving, trully. Bravo! :)

A Beautiful rendition of her own song ...the mime expresses perfectly the deep hurt in the Soul that we all have but are suppressing ..just to keep going ..and stay alive..the song , its melody, lyric, and cia's voice capture this human condition completely..that's why tears run down the cheek of first time listeners..you dont always have to consciously comprehend to understand
