The music video plays on the theme of friendship. The stars in each of them represent their bond. The white haired girl didn't have one because she "forgot". But once she starts hanging out with her old friends again she regains the "lost" memories as well as her star. The moral is no matter what happens, you can never forget the bonds you created with your childhood friends, as they made you the person you are today.

Just because the girls are visibly less excited when they get older doesn't mean being with the boys is the default. Being comfortable and being friends is the default, I don't think it's a state of being that boys own. It's just one society has given them the freedom to hold onto. Girls have a lot more pressure put on them, hence the girls who is guarded and wears dark makeup. She isn't like that because "that's just how girls become." They become that way because of awful societal pressures placed on them. There are many.

after watching this several times over the past few years, I've noticed something really interesting, and I think it changes the meaning of the video from one of belonging to one of forgiveness (which very much go hand in hand). when they first enter the building, above the door are four stars, suggesting that there were originally four friends, before they entered the building this time. to the right is a drawing of the four of them titled bffs, but the white haired girl is scribbled out in red. also, at the end of the song when we see the four stars on the window, the lightest one (representing the white haired girl) has a very faint outline behind it, as if there was a star there previously that could not be washed off all the way. my best guess is that something happened and she left the friend group, but has now come back and rediscovered all the good times she had with her friends. despite what happened in the past, your true friends will always accept you and help you find where you belong.

Hearing this song made me notice how uneventful my childhood was. I'm almost an adult now and I barely remember any of it. I often found myself envious of others who are still in contact with their childhood friends, those who can say "I miss my childhood." juxtaposed to my "I missed it." If I could go back, I'd stop stressing myself over the littlest things, like grades. I can remember staring outside of the window doing my homework, studying, while the others were running around playing. Memories with friends can last you a lifetime but good grades only give you a headache and expectations that weren't yours. Now I just feel like a piece of me is missing, I feel like a building with a shaky foundation. Don't let your children grow up to be like me, let them go outside, socialize, and play. Let them be curious, let them surround themselves with peers, let them make mistakes, and let them build the person they want to be.
@DragouMC4 жыл бұрын
I feel you man, I've gained awareness about how lack luster my childhood is in an early age. It made me really depressed how I can't have that one friend to talk to because I didn't make any growing up. Now I regret not changing myself to be more likeable as my last teenage year slips past me.
@depressedkid52374 жыл бұрын

@zenister37654 жыл бұрын
I agree with you all people that this song and especially the video not only makes you remember your childhood but makes you feel it. But that's what the paradox of life is. If you don't live in the moment, act in the present the next thing you remember are MEMORIES with nothing but the regrets of the past. And it's true for all ages whether you're in your teens, your 20's, 30's or 40's or lying on your death bed. Being nostalgic by this song you may remember your friends, you may have their number but never made the call, you may see their insta/fb id but you never made the DM . Thinking in your 20's it's too late it's of no use now. ALRIGHT So now you're in your 30's and a similar/same song is popped up by the ONE AND ONLY "UTUBE ALGO" Again you'll think that i wish that i'd have made that CALL/DM in my 20's and again you'll think that it's too late. And this may be similar in your 40's, 50's or 60's too. You may be scared to contact them thinking if they don't wanna talk to you or they forgot you. BUT that's what you've got to understand Maybe what's with you is the same for them. So stop thinking too much nd go for the call . Maybe they are also willing to talk to you and hang out with you as much as you are. If you're going for it then Tip: Be calm, remember the old days and if you're confused what to talk about, ask them how and where they are. Ask them are they pursuing the interests they had back then. So now CHEERS!! and just go for it PS. THANKS for reading this Far!!☺️☺️. I wish you and your loved ones live a wonderful life 🥰🥰🥰

i feel the totally opposite, im thankfull for having a childhood with minimal problems, i never harmed anyone and nobody ever harmed me, it was all good slow smooth fun until the end where i had to decide to be what i want to be, and to make a change in the world. even though im stressed as hell past military college, facing that that wasnt my destiny and neither flying ( it just got too expensive and unreacheable) , im trying to work and study to keep all the good habits and friends i made along the way. in the end, we have to agree, that after this quarantine, we need to keep our good friends closer, and make a future not to remember, but to relive and make new good times. take care,wherever you are!
@lizdiaz39514 жыл бұрын
In order to see your "lack luster" childhood in a more positive light, be grateful that it wasn't full of disheartening and traumatic events, and that in the end, you were born in a much better situation than the grand percentage of the population born in poverty, abusive environments, etc. This helps me cope because I also can't remember much of my childhood with other enough to feel nostalgic. i never hung out at friends' houses and they never came to mine

man I didn't even notice the stars on them until the end, and now it kinda makes sense to me- The stars represent their friendship together, the one girl with the white hair has drifted away from them, which is why she has no star in the beginning. So they go back to this seemingly abandoned place, where they use to have fun together and draw with spray paint as kids. When they all try to have fun spray painting again, she seems to enjoy it but doesn't fully remember/understand (explaining the sad face she draws on the wall.) Once they remind her of the fun they all use to have as kids, by sitting her down on this frog plushie and they do the entering into "knighthood" motion with the stick, essentially bringing her back into the group. She remembers and gains her star back; symbolizing that she's reconnected with them. They may be older teens/adults now, but still value their memories together as friends c: In summary I love this, thank you for creating this masterpiece Siames and RUDO! .w.

@@Insomniac_Hart Okay, can you like, calm down a little? Not trying to be rude, but you've been posting very rude and disrespectful comments to anyone who has their own theories in this comment section. Which I don't think is fair considering a majority of the Music Videos SIAMES posts are open for theorizing and discussions. I'm not saying it's wrong to have your own theory, I encourage it, but for those who are enjoying themselves with their own theories and interpretations, don't deserve to be treated unkindly. If you find a theory you disagree with, just put timestamps of your own evidence and explain it in a nicer manner while sharing your own theory. Maybe it wasn't your intention to be negative, but many people here find your way of disapproving their theories as rude. Like the comment you posted just now sounds mocking and disrespectful. The person's mistake was already corrected and they already showed embarrassment. As I said, it's okay to have a theory, but treating others like they are stupid for having their own makes you look like a bad person :(. Just next time if you disagree with someone, try to be nicer about it and supportive! When others are treated invalid for their thinking it really hinders creativity, specially when the theory doesn't negatively affect anyone else. Have a good day ^^

The past videos always have some complex, intricate theories behind them, and I love reading them, they're always so interesting. But I think the story behind this one is rather simple. Teens at the end of summer remembering the magic of being a child. The new initiate is a new friend, and they're seeing if she still retains the child inside of her. Which she does. A time before responsibilities such as school, or work, there was just fun. The innocence of a child. Before the world exposes them to the harshness of reality. Those are the days I miss the most.

I have a theory about the star placement! The leader, black haired girl, has her star on the back of her neck, which is what the team of friends sees as they follow her The guy with the star on his hand: it’s his right hand, he’s the leader’s right hand man! The guy with the star on his leg- he does the work, like, legwork in the group, which also may be why he looks so sporty And the white haired girl has it on her face- she’s the face of the operation, the group, and probably used to get them all out of trouble as kids. Thoughts?
@shiroakame04 жыл бұрын
I had the same thought when I first heard the song. It makes the most logical sense in that aspect. But I also thought of it the way most people do. They're all friends that lost contact with one friend (in this case the white haired girl) and they helped remind her of all the fun they had as children which helps her regain the losr star.

@@endysfrairoh lmao I can’t believe I’m seeing this two months late. Not the best with remembering things, but it was fun! Mainly relaxed and then went on a trip to visit family! One of the main memories I had was riding on a jet ski with my uncle and cousin, only for it to tip over and we had to get brought back to shore by rich people in their passing by yacht. (I kinda think rich people are weird now cause of how they acted on the way back. They were kinda funny tho) Thanks for asking!

I’ll remember this night for the rest of my life. I was at a desolate park with the fiery orange sunset and these gorgeous cotton candy clouds in the distance, this song blasting in my ears drowning out the world, and me soaring on the swings as high as I could, not giving one single damn how stupid I looked. It was a moment of pure bliss. I genuinely smiled for the first time in months. I felt like I could fly and for once, in that perfect, precious window of time; everything was right in the universe. I don’t know when or if I’ll ever feel this happy and content again, but I do know that right here right now I am and that nothing can ever take this sweet, sacred memory away from me. I’ll always have it no matter what, and I can savour it while it lasts. I’m blessed with the knowledge of just how priceless a bit of pure, unadulterated joy is. If my future self happens to stumble upon this comment, I love you. 27/06/2021.

This comment made me feel feelings, feelings of nostalgia for an evening I never had, and feelings of sadness for wasting my childhood being home all day not being able to socialize, feelings of wanting to go out and just enjoy life. I rarely feel these feelings and I thank you for this moment, stranger who I've never met and probably never will. I hope you can feel the same feelings you felt that evening more often, and that you carry that memory with you for years to come

The scene where the white hair girl gets the star always gives me butterflies because the goth girl is seen as quite an emotionless person at the start then shows loads of emotion at that scene, and its just so wholesome

Lately I've been trying to identify certain elements to different songs that can give them a strong sense of nostalgia. That echo and reverb effect to the FM synthesizer as the base line adds a feeling of something in the past. Memories of good times, especially with friends are kinda like echoes in a way. As for the FM synthesizer itself, well those were super trendy in the 70s and 80s. Lately I've noticed a token few bands nowadays are making strong nods to those eras of music. Many people, me included, feel like we've hit a dead end when it comes to the 2010s and 2020s trying to pioneer their own style. This could be why the older styles such as this one are coming back strong.

For me, there's so much depth in the expressions of the blonde haired girl. The way that when the elaborate ritual is going on, she's glancing around, playing along and humoring them but not really understanding... and then finally, when the magic (real or imagined) begins, she closes her eyes and has her "ah-hah" moment. And it's made so poignant as well by the slightly prickly vulnerability in the dark-haired girl's expressions. It's not until the blonde girl is back in the group again that she lets herself smile and laugh, because she doesn't dare to let her guard down until the "ritual"--the reigniting of the friendship--is complete. Sorry I just love this video so much, the character animation and the art direction have a real understated depth

Oh i love how they are portryed as kids - VERY WELL animated, looks so natural, not in the cartoonish-cutesy way, it really looks like real kids and how they move and play. Also love the black overals on the black haired girl, super cute
@future18946 ай бұрын
I really enjoy the detail that when they're kids, the animation is in slow motion, and as adults/teens, the animation goes back to normal speed. Things go by so much faster as an adult when you're stressed about your time, but as a kid, you have no worries and the joy and childhood ignorance makes time last forever.

2:13 i love how once the white haired girl gets a star like the rest of them, they all regress to their child bodies and looks. i interpret it as a symbolism of reconnecting with your old friends again after being separated for so long to the point where the memories of hanging out with them were hazy.

Me too I don't feel like I had this as a kid Not the same type of connect So why do I feel sad like I lost it
@Biochemitra4 жыл бұрын
@@tourmelion9221 Because so much of our media is based on the idea of having fun, weekly adventures with a group of friends, it tends to make a person feel like they should have had it growing up. It makes you expect something that very few people really got to experience, thus making it feel like something is missing from your life. I've had the same thing happen to me all my life. It took a while to come to terms with. One thing that helps is the understanding that it'll never be too late for this sort of thing. There'll never come a time when you can't enjoy spending time with your friends.

It's because the girl is implied to have gone out of contact with her friends and now she's trying to get back into the group. It's sad because this is the story of her fixing this mistake.
