She literally says to John in the final season "I knew you had a soft spot for me" when he comes to save her. It's not a romantic relationship. My favourite characters from the show without a doubt! Although Root called John things like "Helper Monkey" and "The Big Lug", she did have affection for him and mutual respect, appreciation and commitment to the cause, her actions speak to that. She saved him multiple times and she relied on him to help her with finding Shaw. In the final season, when she thought John had been kidnapped by Samaritan's forces, she was committed to finding him and went and put her life on the line to do it. They both would lay down their lives for each other and there's no stronger bond than that in a unit. He's the kind of guy I'd like to be (at times) and she's the type of women I'd like to be with (at times). They're all flawed but have some great qualities we can all relate to. That's what makes great characters.

J'aime vraiment ce genre de personnage que tu déteste au début mais au fil du temps elle change tu l'apprécie quand elle meurt tu t'en remet pas de sa mort.

As partners they really were great. Sameen shaw neither did look good with root nor did with John. The chemistry bonding root and John had with each other was amazing. Idk why but i didn't find shaw's addition as amazing as root's. She instantly found her place in the team but shaw? No!
