I've never heard the cello solo in the second movement - at 14:49 - played so beautifully

I saw this live but it is great to see filming with focus on different parts of orchestra - so much skill and feeling... as always my special nods go to woodwinds and timpani but in all this was fantastic experience and great to see more details than it was possible to see being there

Thank you for your kind words, for attending and for watching again! It's a privilege to play under Maestro Lintu.

Excellent job by Maestro Lintu and the Singapore Symphony on this superb first symphony of Sibelius.

I am always impressed by the way the SSO interprets most of Sibelius symphonies especially the often performed by them the second symphony. It is as though the symphonies of Jean Sibelius were made for the SSO. Others great works that the SSO is eloquent in sound are the Bruckner's and Mahler;'s massive symphonies. I never fail to attend their concerts for these three great composers. Bravo

Interpretazione notevole di questo sig.r Lintu di cui non conoscevo nemmeno l'esistenza.sicuramente solo mia ignoranza. Complimenti.
A great orchestra that played to the conductor's liking too, he usually is pretty emotionless. What comes to politicizing the Sibelius vs Russia, it's not simply "Russia stood to prevent Finland's independence". Finland as a Grand Duchy had its own laws, its own central bank and money, its own customs borders, its own languages (Finnish and Swedish) and in 1906 its own modern parliament with universal suffrage... all this is now lost to the EU.

From Tokyo. I look forward to the completion of all Sibelius and Bruckner symphonies at the Singapore Symphony soon.
