Yeah, I think if you didn’t know any better that it could seem really real. What would have been insane was if this kind of show came out before the internet was super popular and it could have been like The Blair Witch Project.

Yeah I agree, I started watching it with my mom when it aired live. She did not really think the acting was very good, which is probably true. But it was interesting and I kept with it. I liked that it was this mix of Survivor and Lost. I wish it would have continued on especially since it ended on a cliffhanger. Thank you for watching!

@@DylanG_MovieReviews i thought the acting gave the show a more grounded or real feeling as they were playing ordinary people.

I think that it did for parts of the show, but then other parts the acting was way to subdued for what they were experiencing. Just they were just kind of there and not really acting the way a "normal" person would react in that situation. But as long as you like it, then it does not really matter. It was something that I could suspend my disbelief so I could still enjoy the show.

I have binge-watched Siberia on Tubi numerous times. I am totally hooked! I recently found out from Joyce, that the writer is working on a sequel. No air dates and no idea if it will be a movie or another series. Great job on your review, by the way, without giving away any of the "good" stuff.

So, the Siberia rabbit hole runs deeper and I can't believe I can finally tell someone about my findings: There’s a little-known Russian reality TV show that was supposed to be aired in 2017 called Game 2: Winter. The premise was that 30 participants would embark on a survival trip on a remote Siberian island and crimes such as rape and murder would be permitted. Looking at the logo which uses the exact same font as Siberia, its insane premise that is essentially just Siberia but “bigger and bolder” as we’re used to from reality game shows, the connections are pretty easy to spot. It was later revealed to be a social experiment before filming could begin, but I have a sneaking suspicion that what it really was was a failed follow-up to Siberia that didn’t get made due to the major controversies surrounding its claims.
@DylanG_MovieReviews
@DylanG_MovieReviews Жыл бұрын
That sounds interesting, I doubt it is related though. What you described sounds like real, while Siberia was purely fictional. It also wouldn’t make any sense to have a Russian connection to a follow up to Siberia considering that it was an American production that was shot in Canada.
@levischorpioen
@levischorpioen Жыл бұрын
@@DylanG_MovieReviews Haha, that’s why it’s a conspiracy theory: I believe the story of the Russian social experiment is a hoax. The producer who is named to be attached to the project has zero online presence, the only results relevant to his name coming back are those related to this show. Why would the show, presumably a brand-new concept, be named “Game 2”, with the subtitle of “Winter”? If this is Game 2, what is Game 1, and why specify Winter if it’s not the theme of the show like Survivor has done for almost all of their seasons (as well as similar reality competition shows). Why use the exact same logo? Why did the hype originate from American headlines if it is indeed a Russian production? I personally believe there to be too many coincidences for these projects not to be related. It all reads like a satire of reality competition shows to me, kinda like Siberia was. Maybe it was a marketing stunt to shop the show around after show around after NBC gave up on a follow-up. Maybe it’s an abandoned ARG, it could be many things related to this project. I could very well be wrong about all of this, but the connections are too interesting to ignore IMO. Either way, it’s cool to see people talking about Siberia. I think the show was a great throwback to OG reality competition shows and it provides great commentary on society.

$500,000 split between 14 people isn’t a good deal? Heck, I’d happily take $37,000 to live in a camp for a few winter months with tons of other people
@DylanG_MovieReviews
@DylanG_MovieReviews 2 жыл бұрын
I mean independently of other things it might be a good deal. But in the show, they are asking the contestants to do a lot of stuff compared to what “other” shows do. Hell, Survivor which this show is kinda modeled after is about 1 month and the prize is $1 million. So if you look at it like that then it’s not a good deal.

This show is insanely well written and researched. Several years ago my dad and me analyzed littleraly every second of it. We watched through probably a dozen times. We are like 99% percent sure what's going on.... Too bad there's no second season.
@DylanG_MovieReviews

Yeah it was experimental and probably would have done much better on a streaming service than prime time network television. At one point the creator wanted to continue it in a graphic novel, but who knows what the status of that is or if it will ever happen.

I had never heard of this show when the pilot episode aired, so I sat down to watch, but then I saw Carolina's first confessional and I instantly recognized her. I said to myself "That's not Carolina from Colombia, that's Joyce Marie Giraud from right here in Puerto Rico!". So I figured out that this had to be scripted, and I was waiting for the twist, and when it hit, it was amazing, it hooked me instantly. It was extra fun when I convinced my friend to watch the pilot with me afterwards, he hates Survivor style shows, but I convinced him to wait till the final five minutes. He didn't recognize Joyce, so seeing his reactions to a contestant dying was so much fun. Afterwards, we were hooked, and then to find out it got canceled, not even like just one more episode to wrap things up, we were beyond bummed. This was such a good show and it deserved more episodes and a proper conclusion.

I completely agree, I wish we at least got an explanation about what was going on. I haven’t checked, but I need to see if the creators ever talked about what they had planned for the future. I’m pretty sure I knew going into the show that it was fictional, but I did enjoy the almost Blair Witch Project like filming and style (although Siberia had much better cameras). Unfortunately I’m afraid we will never get the answers we want, but we can always hope for maybe a comic series or book to come out and continue the story.

O remembered that we're in Siberia but I couldn't remember the name of the show. 🙄I found thw name because one of the contestants is on Housewives of Beverly hills at some point and I looked her up. When it comes to networks, 2 million viewers aren't enough, when they get paid to advertise for others during the commercials in those time slots. Sad but true. The almighty dollar is worth more to them than the enjoyment of over two million households.
