Would be interested in seeing a video where you go over your connection to the Evenki. I think it’s awesome you lived with them and the fact that they ride reindeer blows my mind.
@hobojordo4 жыл бұрын
That would take several videos! ;). Maybe I could make some about different stories from there

Man please finish this series. I've been wanting some skis like this for years. Started on traditional snowshoes and mukluks - nice, but tiring to lift legs, then moved to modern fat skis - works fine, but can't really use with mukluks, and doesn't have that traditional charm.

@@hobojordo Oh trust me, I AM going to be making some. You probably worked the bugs out of your design so I'll hold off for your updates so I don't make the same mistakes. ;)

@@deltafour1212 well it's all there... I'd use fresh (or frozen) scraped hides so you can get them to stretch a bit onto the bottom after you we them.. not a big difference, these worked fine..but then I'd cut the edges straight so there is less resistance - like a strip

So, I subbed your channel along with some of the best folks from Alone, and I see some of your early vids in Lynchburg. I'm from there. Did you grow up/go to school there?
@hobojordo4 жыл бұрын
Hi thanks, no I grew up in Idaho but have been in Lynchburg since about 2006 ( minus some time in Russia)

Larch is a usual tree for skimaking in Northeast russia?
@hobojordo4 жыл бұрын
I haven't seen them make skis out of larch, but I wouldn't be surprised if they do somewhere... I had some made out of Siberian pine which I know isn't normal either but they worked well

Did you use the money to start a milling service? That's pretty darn cool.

you should invest in a blue tooth microphone so your voice can be heard better in your videos.
