If you look at the eyes, the ones that have the blue eyes are Siberian. But also, they can’t have brown. It is confusing if you don’t know what to look for in the eyes.

My Alaskan husky was not an escape artist, and she could be off leash and would follow me and come back with a single whistle that I trained her with. Alaskan huskies are absolutely fabulous with children! With sadness, I had to put her to sleep three months ago she end up with cancer on her spleen and her heart truly a blessing in my life! I miss you Raina ❤

Alaskan Huskies are the better breed. I have two named Windy and Secretariat. I did a DNA test on mine, and Windy has Pointer, German Shepherd, Salukis, Siberian Husky, Alaskan Malamute, Chukotka sled dog, Canadian Eskimo Dog and Greenland Dog. Secretariat has Great Pyrenees, Anatolian Shepherd, Pointer, German Shepherd, Salukis, Siberian Husky, Alaskan Malamute, Chukotka sled dog and Canadian Eskimo Dog.

So many falasies and cliches in this video. Training is fundamental, especially with dogs of highly independent nature. My Alaskan responds to a single whistle to return, sits and waits when off the leash if another dog or a person is approaching, sits and waits before crossing a roadway, and loves to play with the grandchildren, proactively goes to his pen if bored and never runs off when left outside on his own. As for nt being recognized by the AKC, who gives a @$#*? They are wonderful dogs and such recognition carries not practical value or benefit for the dogs.

Any breed not recognized by the AKC and therefore not part of the dog show circuit is better off so in that respect the Alaskan Husky has an advantage, That saId however I'm not aware of the show breeders doing the kind of damage to Siberian Huskies that they've done to other breeds such as the German Sheperd and all the flat faced or short legged dogs.

Some of this information is incorrect. For example Siberian Husky weren't bred for simply pulling sleds. They were also bred to aid in hunting by killing game and have a very strong predator instinct.

I agree but Alaskan huskies probably vary being as they are a mix of European dogs for speed and sometimes wolves. My Alaskan has a few Siberian traits but a great guard dog and doesn't escape or run away.

I have two dogs …I thought she was Siberian but I believe now that’s she’s an Alaskan husky (Elina) never barked once and does howl loves loves to get petted and loves attention very friendly with strangers . her coat is a bit heavier and fluffier but her daughter (Ember) is total opposite she’s slender not heavy coat a bit taller then her mom doesn’t love attention from strangers she barks and growls when approaching strangers a lot faster at running then her mom… you’d think that Ember would pick up her moms behavior but she never did? Can someone please explain why this happens?

We got 3 Alaskan huskies, a 5 yr old and 2 brothers almost 2 yr old all from the same breeder mind you the 5yr old has different mother and father than the 2 2yr old's but we do know the history of the dogs parents, the 5 yr old has never barked, growled or showed his teeth since we've had him but he will howl even though it takes for him to howl and his parents had basically the same temperament has him calm loving dogs.......now on to the 2 brothers who are 2 totally different dogs all to together one is a runner who would run a 1000 laps around the house a day and loves to be outdoors all he can, he is also a barker and a howler and a talker, now on to his brother who will go outside and play and run for a little bit then its back to the door wanting to come in and snuggle up to someone and he's like the 5yr old don't bark or howl but he is a talker like his brother and there's nothing funnier than listening to to dogs talk to each other.....hahaha......now on to the brothers parents.....there father was a barker and a runner while there mother was a calm loving dog yet she was the howler so can you see what traits the 2 dogs picked up from there parents....so what im trying to say after i just got done writing a novel...hahahaha..........what was the temperament of the daughters father like maybe she picked it up from him

Alaskan huskies are Siberian mixed with European dogs and sometimes wolves, they can be very different to Siberians. Mine was an abuse case, lived outside for 5 years and didn't bark at first, wasn't house trained or coordinated. He's not friendly but a fantastic guard dog, doesn't try to escape or run away and stays close. He barks, howls on command and communicates well to let me know what he wants. I have to keep him away from people and other dogs, he doesn't back down and reactive.

our neighbor has one just like that. it even has a wolf like posture and stalks approaches its opponents like a wolf in small steps while growling. its a highly aggressive watch dog. mine arent watch dogs whatsoever lol

Siberian Huskies are just as capable of running long distance as Alaskan huskies are. This is Siberia and northern Asia we are talking about. Larger than the whole of Alaska and endless frozen wastelands

just because they came from Siberia and northern Asia that has nothing to do with it.....yes Siberian huskies might be capable of long distance running but it would take you 2 to 3 times longer to train them as long distance runners as the Alaskan husky was basically bred to be long distance runners right out of the gate

Mines a great hairs dog, my 6 month old pup protected me from a shady character when he tried to approach me die no good reason while talking to me about construction that seemed like a lie to me, my boy nearly bit him and he never does that to anyone, no other stranger made him act this way. 🐕🐾💙💂‍♀️

It is wrong that Siberian husky is more suited for short distance sledding. Actually the Alaskan husky was crated by mixing polar breeds like Siberian husky or more often Greenland dog with faster short distance runners like greyhound, pointer and vorsteh. According to Robert Sørlie this was done because pure bred polar dogs will save their energy: If I don't find food today, I need strength to hunt tomorrow.
