I think this is the problem with a lipsync smackdown as the finale. I do think the whole season should matter, but if you make it all come down to a lipsync and the person you crown did amazing in the season but got bodied in the lipsync then it completely undermines their win. AND undermines the person who bodied the lipsync. There has to be something new for the finales, because this was such an unsatisfying end to a really amazing season

I think Sasha’s body of work in addition to the lipsyncs sealed her win. Jinkx’s body of work in addition to the lipsyncs was better than Monet’s, and the final lipsync from Monet, while great, was not on the emotional or spiritual level of Sasha’s rose petals, and it was not so spectacular as to warrant denying Jinkx’s body of work as the queen of all queens.

Monet is right. It's cool if your body of work is what makes you the winner, but then just let that make you the winner. Don't say you're lip synching for the crown if you're not. Winning/doing well in the challenges gets you to the finale, then the final lip synch is like the Super Bowl. This is the game that matters. (I'm fine w/ the lip synch being the decider, I'm also fine with the entire season deciding the winner. But if you're doing that, then just do it.)

Bob also failed to point out that queens on All Stars don't have the advance time to prepare for the finale because they don't get to go home, spend months thinking about what they can do and how they can make a performance standout. The AS queens have to do everything there in a short time with limited resources. Jacob tried to point out that Monét's performance was severely edited (Jinkx has damn near double the screentime in that final lipsync).

agree with Monét here. I get what Bob is saying about Sasha Velour’s moment being a paradigm shift but it’s an apples to oranges comparison. Sasha had the benefit of an entire audience whose reaction couldn’t be ignored. The AS7 finale was just cast and production, the rest of us saw it through the edit. I think Monét‘s point is that on AS7 there was NO chance that a paradigm shifting moment was gonna happen for a losing queen because the LSFYL clearly wasn’t the formula to pick the winners this season, despite what the contestants were told that made them think only stars + LSFYL mattered, not overall body of work That being said I think looking at overall body of work is a better way to pick the winner. I just don’t like the lack of clarity about which formula they’re using

This season proves that Black excellence is only perceived as half of white excellence. Jinx did great, don’t get me wrong. But Monét for me did better, and they had to cut most of her final lip sync. Jinx’s runways were mostly the same silhouette, same aesthetic but Monét had insanely more variety while executing them beautifully. Besides these things working in Monét’s favor, Monét and Jinx were neck and neck. If anything, Jinx Stan’s were more willing to go to war in comment sections (literally rabid & threatening violence if they didn’t get their way - hence Ru posting that the winner of the season were the “fans” - Mama did not want her life at risk in Trump’s America).

Dellusion. Saying that Monet slayed every runway when even Bob in pit stop question some of her looks is just delusion. Also you pretend like Monet never did bad in this season, while she was forgetable in Fairytale Justice (and to be fair - she was way weaker and way more forgetable than anyone else...), her Snatch Game was only halfway good, as she was only funny as Mike Tyson, her Bob The Drag Queen Elizabeth look was just one of laziest concept I had seen - throw a simple dress, no make up and just crown on bald head. Her Draguation speach was just mediocre, there was handful of way better ones, I really didn't like her Santa School performance as it was just Monet, no character in it, no acting, her roast was pretty underwhelming for Monet, and as much as her talent show is impressive for drag audience - it is not at all that unique or game breaking and not at all "the best talent show ever" - it was something very diffrent for drag race culture, but opera singing is not very unique and her performance was also not impressive for an opera performance.

I know this is super old by this point, but I think choosing a winner should come down to three things; performance throughout the season, storyline and how it relates to Drag Race as a TV show and performance in the finale (in this case, the Lip Sync For the Crown). Thus, ultimately, I feel like Monet beat out Jinkx on all three counts. While yes, Jinkx had more wins, she really only excelled in comedy challenges, whereas Monet did well across the board (including improving in the design department). Monet had a much clearer storyline as a come-from-behind force, knocking the second half of the season out of the water, whereas Jinkx was seen as either the clear winner of an individual challenge or one of the worst. And, of course, Monet ate Jinkx up in the final lip sync. As for Yvie/Raja, I think Raja had the stronger performance throughout the season and a more clearer storyline, whereas Yvie beat her in the final lip sync, so I guess Raja being the queen of SDADHH is fair.

Totally agree with Monet. The lipsync for the crown should be just that: a performance for the crown. Your performance through the season has given you the opportunity to lipsync for the crown at the finale. Monet and Yvie totally won the lipsyncs and should have been crowned. Bob saying that Sascha deserves the crown based on a lipsync and Monet didn’t is giving opinionated confusion lol. Personally…if they’re gonna look at the season and how you did the WHOLE TIME dont have a lipsync FOR the crown because you’re not lip syncing FOR the crown if you’re looking at the time as a whole. The things done throughout the season gets you to the lipsync which I thought determines who wins the crown. I wouldn’t have felt so eh about the ending of the season if they said from the get go they were gonna look at EVERYTHING you did throughout the season and just pick a winner rather than having a lipsync cause the lipsync seems pointless. I loved that jinx won and I feel like it’s deserved (even though I was rooting for Monet 😂❤) but because of the lipsync it makes it seem like producers “rigged” it for her to win because respectfully she lost tf out of that lipsync😭 Alllllll imma say is there was a reason they edited the lipsync the way they did and the fact they edited that way and Monet STILL WON SPEAKS VOLUMES💀 No hate just my opinion😌

re: lip sync for the crown i would say other seasons it should and usually is a combination of what youve done on the show. however in this season the idea was to compete and collect points for a change to lip sunc for the crown. challenge wins were seen more as a means to get stars rather then prove youre fit for the crown since all there queens were already winner and did that on their original seasons. i could be swayed on this though. love you girls

Personally, I agree with Bob about the body of work + LSFTC. Alaska talks a lot about it too, where, what's the point of the entire season if the final challenge just outweighs everything that's been done? I see where Monét is coming from, but I've always been a track record kind of girl, so I feel like the entire season's performance should also be factored in UNLESS it's a complete and indisputable shut down like in Sasha vs. Shea. If it only came down to lip-synching amongst the Top 4, queens like Raja and Bianca would've never stood a chance despite how much they bodied their respective seasons.

If Jinkx had rightfully been able to block after her E10 win and blocks Monet, then Monet is possibly out of the top 4 altogether. The thing that I think gets lost with a lot of the Drag Race seasons now is that in my opinion it matters more what the audience feels regarding “wins versus stars” than what the queens were told in the moment. The show is ultimately for the audience, not the competitors.
