I agree with Bob that it's difficult to extract yourself from a lifetime of eating meat. I felt exactly the same way, ( also acknowledging my shitty behavior for a long time before being able to change ). Now that I have finally been able to stop, I certainly can't shame the people I know who still eat meat, because it would feel hypocritical considering how long I did it. But I hope Bob sticks to her guns and doesn't give up on the idea of quitting meat.
@j.j.7146 жыл бұрын
Tracey Glimmer I don’t mean this to sound rude but I can’t think of another way to word it, so I’m sorry but why do you care about what Bob eats or doesn’t eat? I’m vegan myself but I don’t get this “I hope he doesn’t give up on the idea of quitting meat” because honestly that makes veganism sound borderline like a cult, trying to recruit followers and trying to save them from “damnation”
@sarahl37216 жыл бұрын
I feel like the argument about the textile industry is stronger....giving up meat is much easier than trying to wear clothes that don't have a massive impact on people and the planet

@@j.j.714 My commenting wasn't so much about caring deeply what Bob eats, as it was about relating to the moral struggle he was trying to describe when you want to stop eating meat but find it very difficult. Like I said, I wouldn't feel right passing judgement on people who are still eating it, ( which kinda rules out the cult idea ). I just don't hear a lot of people talking about that clash between feeling one way ethically, but still not being able to stop, ( which was my experience for a long time as well ).
@yoni55706 жыл бұрын
Tracey Glimmer well said. “Clash of feeling one way ethically and still not being able to stop”. It’s rough as fuck. Every year I try a little more. I cut out cow’s milk first but still had fish and poultry, yet felt guilty at every meal.

Yes I agree. Cows create more pollution than cars. It sounds absurd, but you should watch the documentary Cowspiracy. Making fields for more cows for grazing to create more meat to eat the amount of fast food and processed food has increased think of the amount of gluttony of today. It’s sad and we do need to decrease it. I understand Monét’s point, but i also agree being in this vicious circle of eating processed foods it’s an addiction and for sure the things put into the food are causing use to be addicted. Damn I love this series. It’s like listening to me and my best friend. Also for the record I’m also I’m a meat eater, but feel bad about it and hope to change it soon.

bob makes a point when she says "you do not have time to grocery shop". thats the whole thing. veganism is fine, so long as you acknowledge the limitations others have; accessability being the major one. Capitalism forces people to expend their labor and participate in the system, which is exactly what happens when you purchase anything from a grocery store. your vegetables and organic products are still produced with pesticides that devistate animal populations and half the time, harvested using slave labor Also, individual actions cant change systemic problems, which is what the meat/dairy industry is. the problem is capitalism, not people who eat meat. this isnt succinct, but its a nuanced issue
@missjul85 жыл бұрын
Nowadays there are more options in fast food like Carls Jr, Del Taco, Pizza Hut, etc. We all need to help each other to get to a vegan world, capitalism is the main problem but we need to stop the demand in general.

Going vegan is the single most efficient way you can cut down your carbon footprint and help the environment, even more than ditching your car! Monet, I completely understand your point of view since I was raised being omnivorous for 20 years, but unfortunately meat is not sustainable for the planet, even when it’s produced by small farmers. What’s truly destructive with animal agriculture is that we need to feed these animals so much grain and soy in order for them to build muscle mass, and this process is highly inefficient. In fact, we already have all the crops we need to end world hunger and feed everyone. The problem is, we are using those crops to feed animals, so that people in America can enjoy a burger. Refusing animal products is saying no to animal cruelty and inefficient agricultural practices, and reducing our greenhouse gas emissions.🌱❤️

I'd love it if you guys asked each other more questions! I wanted Monet, all those times Bob kept going on about his month that he did, to just ask him okay so you say it's hard, what makes it hard on a PERSONAL level to you, what did you learn about it while doing it, did you actually find yourself craving it? did you try to cook more? Did you find yourself thinking you could do every other month? LIke anyone that is trying to quit or start anything new in their lives they need a plan so was this an insight into what your "plan" can be? . . . or whatever you wanna say. Bob was saying, and I agree 100%, that we need to find ways to get ourselves out of these structures which we've been indoctrinated into and that's super difficult, if we focus on our personal stories with them and connect in a way that we can then learn from each other's trials and errors with it all maybe it'll be easier, maybe we'll spend less time focused on semantics and he said she said and misunderstandings. I love watching you guys, it really IS like you are siblings fighting. There is so much love and respect from both of you while yelling and "almost" reading each other with every comment that is really just deep rooted in a long standing understanding of the other person. YOU GUYS (and then I'm done here I swear) SHOULD DO AN ORIGINS STORY OF YOUR FRIENDSHIP.
