But wait....According to Malachi the one that comes after John the Baptizer is the same one that made the covenant with Moses.... How can this be? Was it not God that made the covenant with Moses? Yes it was.....But it was Jesus that came after John the Baptizer and not God?.... Could Malachi be wrong? ....Or is it simply that God himself did actually come to the earth and visit his temple as Jesus right after John the Baptizer did. Exactly as Malachi said he would... It's always fun to watch these guys tap dance around John 7:35. They see the force of it yet double down still and make claims such as "Taz" made, saying that Jesus went to the Gentiles dispersed among the Gentiles. Gentiles dispersed among Gentiles. That's the position they would take instead of admitting Jesus taught the Dispersed AND the Gentiles. But since they are dug in that only Old Covenant Israelites can be saved, they only show their undying commitment to their presupposition.

I agree wholeheartedly with you about the foundational nature of the Old Covenant and that Christians predominantly base their ideas of salvation and eschatology strictly upon the New Covenant. I am not of that sort. Audience relevance is a concept I echo constantly because it is greatly neglected. I am very aware of the Diaspora in the Bible. There are a few passages I want to cite in support of what I said regarding John 7:35: 1. Amos 9:8-9 - "'Behold, the eyes of the Lord GOD are on the sinful kingdom, And I will destroy it from the face of the earth; Yet I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob," Says YHWH. 'For surely I will command, *And will sift the house of Israel among all nations,* As grain is sifted in a sieve; Yet not the smallest grain shall fall to the ground.'" Here, Amos is speaking to Ephraim, the 10 northern tribes, and warning them of impending doom. Hosea said that YHWH was about to divorce her, and she would no longer be His people (Hos. 1). Amos 9:8-9 prophesies the scattering of Ephraim (a.k.a. the Dispersion). Yet, when he speaks, he distinguishes "the house of Israel" from "all nations." The idea is that Ephraim would be taken captive from her land, no longer dwelling separately from the nations, but instead be "sifted among all the nations." The Diaspora (Israelites) would be "among all the nations" (non-Israelites). 2. Hosea 8:8 - *"Israel* is swallowed up; Now *they are among the Gentiles* Like a vessel in which is no pleasure." Hosea, speaking of the same judgment in Amos that would lead Israel (Ephraim) into captivity, said that "Israel" would be swallowed up and "among the Gentiles." Again, there is a clear distinction between Israel and the non-Israelites (Gentiles) in this text. Yet, this is the scattering (Dispersion) that John references in John 7:35. 3. 1 Peter 2:11-12 - "Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul, having *your* conduct honorable *among the Gentiles,* that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation." As you know, Peter addressed his epistle "to the pilgrims of the Dispersion" (1 Pet. 1:1) and lists regions, many of which you find in Acts 2. Peter writes to the Diaspora and instructs them to remember that they are but sojourners and pilgrims and that their (Diaspora) conduct should be honorable "among the Gentiles." This Gentile group is not the Diaspora, for they are "among" the Gentiles, not one and the same as the Gentiles. So take a look at the following: Amos: "sift the house of Israel among all nations" Hosea: "Israel is swallowed up...among the Gentiles" Peter: "Have your (Diaspora) conduct honorable among the Gentiles" Lev. 26:33 and Deut. 28:64-65 uses this language in the same manner when prophesying of the curses. Now here's John: "Then the Jews said among themselves, 'Where does He intend to go that we shall not find Him? Does He intend to go to the Dispersion among the Greeks and teach the Greeks?'" Why would anyone come to any conclusion other than that the Jews were suggesting that perhaps Jesus was going to teach non-Israelites as He taught the Dispersion? This text clearly distinguishes (as do the former three) the Diaspora from non-Israelites. In John 7, the Pharisees and chief priests were attempting to seize Jesus, and He said that in a little while He would go and they would not be able to find Him. Of course, Jesus is referring to His ascension back to the Father, but the blind leaders did not comprehend the meaning, and understood Him to be speaking in terms of going to some other geographical location. And so they ask, "Where does He intend to go that we shall not find Him? Does He intend to go to the Dispersion among the Greeks and teach the Greeks?" This statement should not be taken literally but more as a statement of sarcasm, suggesting that Jesus perhaps would go to the Diaspora and teach Greeks (non-Israelites). The Pharisees no doubt thought Messiah was going to save only Old Covenant Israel, much like yourselves, but they were wrong, ironically. Isaiah 49:5-6 is just one of many passages that teachers such. What I am telling you will make no sense at all if you don't at least consider that perhaps the Gospel was for more than Israel after the flesh. If not, then you are forced to make the "Greeks" of John 7:35 refer to Israelites, even though the entirety of Scripture does not use the "among" relationship in that manner at all.
