Great reaction Francesca! This is not the only video where Tom has called out the music industry. He's done it in videos like Dear Rappers (his breakout song), Helluvit, Cancelled, Don't Look Down, etc.

Those papers he rips are an actual contract is what I've seen in comments over the 2 yrs I've been watching Tom reactions. I'm sorry if they are shadow banning you. And FYI apparently KZbin is changing they don't these reaction channels and they have other insane rules coming up check out Cliff Beats he did a reaction to the video about it. I believe the original video was from Penguin 0? All I know is if that happens I will have to find a different place because that's what I really enjoy most. I like interacting with people over music. I don't watch all of any one channel I follow Tom Samson Chris Webby some Adam Calhoun and some Upchurch ect. I don't do NF but he is a top notch artist. I periodically check up on my reaction channels because you're right they don't always notify us.

The story is even better than that. Yes, that is an actual record contract, the one that most musicians would sell their grandmothers to get, that he's ripping up in the video. But it's even better than that. Because a perq included in the contract was a company car - a white Lamborghini. Tom sent this video as his response to the record company's response, and publicly to everyone as a statement of his principles. Tom went out and used his own money he made independently to purchase the same model Lamborghini the contract offered him, then took his own cash representing the signing bonus money and scattered it around the Lamborghini, then he took their contract and ripped it in half, did the song squatting on their money, and burned the car. I've seen video of him saying that he purposely bought the same car being offered to him in the contract purely for the purpose of destroying it to make his point as powerfully as he could. He said he drove it home from the dealership and then burned it. I believe he said the money scattered around the floor was his signing bonus from the contract and some of that burned too - which he probably shouldn't have admitted or put himself into a position of that being done on camera because defacing or destroying U.S. currency is just as much a crime as counterfeiting it is. Those machines you see at tourist attractions where you put a coin in and it comes out flattened with an image pressed into it are technically illegal - destroying evidence of a debt is illegal under United States law. You can't get out of a contract by throwing it into a fireplace. Technically that's what Tom did, because U.S. currency is technically debt. In this case, however, the currency represents a debt owed TO Tom rather than BY Tom and the destruction was not on an industrial scale that would disrupt the cash economy, so the risk to him was negligible. However, it concerns me anyway as a HOG family member, because we know that Tom is saying things the establishment doesn't want said and Tom is getting hugely popular saying those things, so I wouldn't put it past them to arrest and charge Tom for currency tampering. Every bill that got destroyed or damaged during that video carries a half year prison sentence. For safety reasons Tom should have used fake money in the video, but for ethical reasons he used real money. Burning the car was also technically a crime. In this case, it is a civil crime which someone can sue over if they wish to. An example is if you deliberately damage a car you're still making payments on, you are potentially damaging the bank's property and they could use you for it. In this case, since defendant Tom was damaging property wholly owned by plaintiff Tom, it would have to be plaintiff Tom taking defendant Tom to civil court to see whether defendant Tom had to pay for plaintiff Tom's legal expenses or vice versa and to see how much defendant Tom had to pay plaintiff Tom for destroying the car. You'd have to find a judge who either had a very light docket or a very large sense of humor not to throw any case filed in this situation seriously. It's somewhat like how Bill Gates attempted to drum up publicity for himself by declaring that he was going to give the bulk of his fortune away to charity, then after getting the media attention, he proceeded to donate all of Bill Gates' money to Bill Gates' foundation, where the co-chair of the board is Bill Gates himself. So it was a similar situation of someone acting as two legally defined persons when they're the same real life individual.
