🔹 Wing Gambit, Sicilian Defense - • Powerful Chess Opening...
♛ Find the Accelerated Dragon variations shown in the video in this blog-post - chess-teacher.com/accelerated...
If you consider former world chess champions like Fischer, Anand, and Kasparov, they all share a common preference: the Sicilian Defense as Black. Renowned for its solidity and aggression, the Sicilian Defense is a favorite among top chess players.
In this video lesson, GM Igor Smirnov introduces the Accelerated Dragon Variation of the Sicilian Defense. This variation typically arises after the moves: 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 g6. By playing g6 early, before d7-d6, Black can execute d7-d5 directly without losing a move.
The Accelerated Dragon is both solid and aggressive, proving effective up to the level of FIDE Masters (approximately 2200-2300 ELO). Additionally, it comes with a lot of deadly traps.

Will you also cover the Sicilian Najdorf at some point? As it is the most popular and theoretically best variation of the Sicilian defense.

In the position at 5:18 after you play Nf6, white should just play e5, which threatens the Knight and opens the queen's attack on the c6 pawn. You could easily proceed with dxe5, Qxc6+, Bd7, Qf5. White has a more favorable position now. even if black castles kingside, his queenside is wrecked. Therefore, instead of Nf6, shouldn't black simply play e7? Am I missing something obvious? Anyone see a better line?

The bind structure is useful if you played d6 and Nf6 at the very beginning. If u didn't, its waste of time for white and you can develop faster

I can guarantee none of my 900 opponents play any of those moves. But what the hell I'll give it a go, but only because I own a pet Dragon. Not the bearded types, the real game of thrones type. My neighbour hates it but it keeps the cats off my lawn and I can light my BBQ in seconds.
