The only problem is that it’s a variation not played commonly in low elo, and a trap usually seen by high elo.

@@MasterHydro when you say below 2000 elo it’s still a good trap, 90%+ people are below 2000 and the Sicilian defence is pretty common so you can use this 4/20 times (accounting for how many people play the Sicilian and how many people don’t fall for the trap

The problem with traps is that they usually are in bad openings and no one falls for them.

@@ww2qss584 C2 is a beautiful square for the bishop. Be2 forces Qc2 (if you want to play positionally by not playing e5) after Bd7, which weakens the d4 push.

I play the Sicilian Defense, although i do not go the most common. I use the knight to f3. (King's Knight F3)

I would not have taken the pawn with my knight instead i would have pinned my opponent's knight.

That is not that great of a move because you would lose tempo and you can activate the queen

Trust me, a my level e4 does not get countered with c5, never mind all the counters that follow! So me trying this goes up in smoke after 2 moves! I am normally being attacked by a queen by the second move!!

bishop c4 is the move for the trap though because it makes it look like a mouse slip, so the opponent is compelled to take it more

@@mashirokidz2395 there’s a difference between a trap and a tactical defense. A proper trap would be something like, say, enticing your opponent to take a piece of yours so that you can sacrifice for mate. This is literally just a one move “trick” that defends your pawn.

Obviously you've just never played the Sicilian. This is literally the most classic and common variation of it, also known as dragon variation.

Bishop move is not setting up any trap you can move anything and cross your fingers and hope your opponent doesn't see the fork and takes the pawn so yeahhhhhh not really a trap
