I'm not a native English speaker so I was just about to ask if he sounds legit Scottish in this movie to native speakers. I already knew the fact that he is from the London area, but watching him now in this clip I had to double-check if he was partially raised in Scotland or maybe his parents were Scottish, thus the proper Scottish accent... He sounds even more Scottish than my ex-girlfriend, who's from a town outside Edinburgh LOL

everyone always quoted "Beautifully fucking illustrated" after Trainspotting came out to try to nail the lid on whatever theory/view they had. After Trainspotting came the Brit Gangster Guy Ritchie films which were great, but heavily leaned to the style of trainspotting. All funny, quick dialogue/conversation-heavy films. Lock Stock is extremely dialogue-focused rather than "hey lets see lots of violence, nobody wants to hear people talk and be funny/sarcastic/silly for 90 minutes"

It may not (quite) be on the same level as Dick Van Dyke's Cockney accent but its not great. Still, it distracts from the theme's written by one of literature's great haters, Irvine Welsh, the man who hates the UK, the establishment, Protestants, drug pushers, non-leftists, etc, etc,. He made millions writing about the degenerate side of life, then the arch liberal went to live in America and the UK arts establishment love him for it.
