While we all want to see animals go back in to the wild, poor Cumulous has probably been in captivity for his entire life. Releasing him at this stage to satisfy your human need to see him free would probably result in him dying a slow and miserable death. Even after ‘rehabilitation’. He’s a personal pet at this stage, he probably wouldn’t do well even in a large aviary.

Yes this one would get short shrift in the wild. Some friendly looking animal and... NO FEATHERS! But Cumulus is an enchanting boy. Throwing the pens out of the pen tidy and sashaying backwards were my fave bits. If you used a tablet size screen, such a bird as Cumulus could easily learn certain dances, such as Michael Jackson's Moonwalk or Status Quo's Grease Dance. 🎶🌟👍

Are you really going to try to turn him on his own after he is super happy with you? It breaks my heart when I think about it. He's already lost one human and your practice came and saved him. I think it would be a shame to release Cumulus, even though he is fully recovered physically. He is happy with you, and I think he would be terribly sad if you, like the others, were gone one day. You would know better than I what is important for him, but if total freedom is the best action, there will be a price he, and you, have to pay. Why would you say you would release him into the wild? May it was a mistake, but if he lost his human before you, what would happen if he didn't have a human to tease and try to get the attention of in the wild? I suppose it would be where you intended to release him, but even then, if he is so attached to you, and you love him back, why would you put him back into an environment that he had never known. Please, please do not release him. He will not be able to find enough food and shelter on his own, as he has never probably done that and has not been taught how to survive on his own by parent birds and/or nest mates. To say nothing of being able to defend himself!
