Isn't it interesting that it's okay to make assumptions about dogs and not people. That girls a guy, that dog is going to kill someone... Dogs, of all breeds are protectors. People are often natural liars. I trust a dogs sense. Someone should study this....

I remember I left my precious friend with 4 legs back home, used to cook & shower him. And the last news had from my family, he passed away. Starving & alone. Make me feel so ignorant & selfish, he was so protective that he had his jaw kicked so hard, could not eat or drink for months. Nursed him, until he was better. Should leave it here now, but that does not make me feel better. So sorry for leaving you my Precious Baby, love you to the moon & back. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

It's always the human element who are the ones who make them aggressive. I've read an article where a family adopted a fairly senior pitbull and had a child later. It was so beautiful to see that huge dog lying on the bench where the baby was in her crib.

Not Always but i will say if it's the largest impact. Dogs are like people in terms of personality. They all have their own type. I have a dog who isn't aggressive but he's super grumpy. He has everything a dog could want. He's loved, healthy, fed well, goes to a golf course and chases geese off the greens. Has a big backyard. Has another dog for companionship. Yet he's still a grumpy little guy.

This reminds me of my rescue dog. Don't know what kind he is but is just 75 pounds of love. He has been a STRONG AND LOYAL PROTECTOR of all three of my grandkids. He even protects them from my leaning over and tickling. My granddaughter even introduced him to one of my wife's friends as her brother Nick.

When the pitbull breed came over from England, their main job was to be protective especially against infants and children. They were the "nanny breed". Helen Keller's pitbull saved Helen from danger when she got too close to the stream, other animals and helped find her when Helen strayed too far from the yard. I have loved and lost my pitbull and I still have trouble getting another one for over 2 years. They are amazing.

My pits were very gentle. My children were raised with them. I had people tell I was in the wrong for having these dogs. When my twins were born. I was so tired I fell asleep holding one of the boys. My older pit came and sat under my arm with the baby on his head until I woke up. He was very protective of the boys. They could do anything to him, and he never hurt them.

Many years ago when the Shar Pei first came to the USA I had one. She was a perfect example of the breed and was a loving angel. People were frightened of her because they thought she was a deformed pit bull. Once a very little girl sat on her like the dog was a horse. Poor dog whined because she thought she was being abused. The dog shook her off, turned around and licked the girl's face as if to say "I want to play too, but not that game" . All dogs should be approached with caution.

Unfortunately I suffered epilepsy and dad decided to leave Monty at home 🏡 with me, Monty would not let anyone near me while I was in the pram except mum and dad. Through the years Monty even came out to meet me at the school 🏫. Infact I can still feel Monty's spirit every where I am

our five homeborn babies, slept with us, in the family bed, until they decided to sleep in the large dollys bed next to the familybed.. i changed nappies, folded udeer my pillow, without waking beloved..eventually when they chose to, they moved into a bed in the childrens bedroom.. they had to be able to climb into their bed,..you know, their condition, everything.. our Staffy Bazil [ancestors fo pit bulls] was so, gentle, so loving, so protective.. later he saved our daughter attacked on the way to school by a large mongrel.. she had fallen behind us, Bazil took off like a rocket, back up the road, he literally saved her life and would have killed the mongrel, had i not ordered him to let it go... Bazil lived in the house, unless he preferred the laundry with his bed.. he was so, loving and so gentle to the babies... wonderful dogs..

I have been a staffie owner and lover since I’ve been a child myself. This is one more stereotype story for the breed that had the perfect ending and one more reason why we all need to look at this breed as individual dog and not lump each one into the bad apple category. I fully agree that there some bad apples in this breed but if you are real with yourself there are some in every breed big or small. The more we open ourselves to understand how they communicate with us the more we will see how they sense things we as humans so many times miss cause our senses aren’t as keen as there’s. Again, Big Hugs and lots of LOVE for the staffies we have around each of us. Dogs will tell us lot more if we just listen and not be so close minded that they are just a dog.

One of the best things, I like to see is a dog, and a baby. Dogs seem to have more awareness of situations that could develop into danger. It fascinating how dogs are so protective with babies. How do they sense things?I worked with a dog, that somehow knew, when deceit, or something is not right. He would growl low, and show her teeth. ONE guy I arrested, tried to fight Geronimo, our German shepard. He was in the hospital for four days, getting stitches, and he had a severe concussion. Man's best friend, all over the world.

Pits are not innately more aggressive than any other breed. I have a pit lab mix. I raised her with my other dog’s help. I raised her just like I raised every dog. Love and training for discipline. Nothing physical about training. I don’t use force. Never. I use calm confident behavior and treats. She is a huge love bug. Trust and respect for the dog must be displayed in your training and you will succeed. The only dog I ever had that couldn’t be trained for anything was a toy poodle puppy. Max would not listen to me in puppy obedience training for nothing. He’d heel, sit, and the rest but not stay. The trainer said he would not be able to be trained. She said I could crush his spirit and fight against his need to be near me or just accept who he was. He’s the only dog I’ve ever had obedience trouble with. The only one I sought help with. He weighed 14 pounds. I ended up crate training him at home because he was bored and destructive. His mother, Bailey, an 8 pond toy poodle was an ideal dog. She could have been shown had I wanted. I didn’t. Max was just Max.

As an ER nurse I have seen too many times when these docs snap for no reason and ruin children’s lives. Adults too. Why risk it? Don’t leave a baby with a dog alone. You are putting the dog in a position to be hurt just based on there basal instincts or unknown abuse history.

I raised a pit bull and he was treated like a king but after a year old he became aggressive. He bit my mom’s face and a 3 years face and attacked my neighbor. He was never treated poorly. A man wanted him and hoped he could change him but no he bit others again. The police took the dog to the shelter and the guy who owned him then fought in court but he lost. The dog was put to sleep . I’m sorry but I watch all these loving pit videos but I can’t trust them.

The mother was paranoid. I have had 8 protection dogs, 7 GSDs and one Doberman. My life was saved from bad people and saved by the behavior of 5 of my dogs. 5 events were prevention of burglaries, one was prevention of rape by 2 men. All my dogs were well trained and never hurt anyone……except by the police. Every protection dog I have owned over 25 years has done something important to help me and my husband. I didn’t have dogs as a child. I saved the Dobie as a Vet Tech, who have been stolen and abused. I saved his life and spent months caring for him, finally adopting him. When he saved me from those rapists, he was quiet, strong and intent on communicating his protection of me to the men. They were frightened and ran away. After he died and I stopped traveling so much for work, I got my first GSD. He saved me twice from burglars, along with 2 other GSDs I had. Some people are afraid of my Charlie, a very happy well trained and social dog. Just because of his breed. Charlie has never had to protect me in 4.5 years, but he is totally devoted to me. He is a happy healthy dog, but comes from 10 generations for Champion protection lines. It is in his DNA. Poor pitbulls are used for fighting. It is common in many areas. But they are sweethearts. It is humans who train them to fight. We are the problem .

Thank you for sharing such a heartfelt story about your incredible bond with Coco. 🐾❤️ She truly sounds like a one-in-a-million dog who loved and protected you unconditionally. It’s clear she was your guardian and best friend, always looking out for you no matter the situation. Dogs like Coco leave such a deep imprint on our hearts, and even though they’re no longer with us physically, their love and loyalty stay with us forever. 🌟 I’m so sorry for your loss, and I can feel how much you miss her. It’s okay to grieve and wish she was still by your side. Remember, Coco would want you to be happy and strong. Maybe one day, you’ll meet another special dog-not to replace her, but to create new memories while honoring the love you shared with Coco. Rest in peace, Coco, the bravest and most loving protector. 🕊️❤️ You're lucky to have had such a beautiful connection.

The ER nurse is so sad , I have 3 children , I have always had a dog , when I bought home my new born baby my dogs were very protective and I had no fear , I knew my animals as my children grew older I would bring them to the kennel , one day my youngest son fussed he was wanting to walk , I was working with the animals he demanded attention , it was summer and many of my dogs were out in the pen , I put my baby in the pen as well I watched and I wanted to cry , my big male was slowly walking in a circle and my baby was up hanging on the dog's fur learning to walk , there were at least 10 dogs in the pen , he came out and showed what Blaze taught him , happy as could be , so lady get a few dogs it will make you a better person .

What a beautiful and heartwarming story! 🐾❤️ It’s incredible how your dogs became not just protectors, but also teachers for your children. Blaze sounds like such an amazing companion-so patient and gentle. Moments like these show the deep bond between kids and animals. 🥰 Thank you for sharing this precious memory! Do you think that early connection with your dogs influenced how your children grew up? 😊

5 minutes in and I was like: "get rid of the wife"!!! But I was curious about the end. I'm glad that SHE woke up and SHE got the help and education about dogs and their behavior. But later she lost a couple of 'browny points' in my book,, when she said "Rocky taught "US" more about loyalty"..."WE" almost let fear take away one of the best things in our lives"... Come on...your husband NEVER doubted him!!

You bring up such an important point about love and understanding being at the heart of protection for both animals and families. 🐾❤️ It’s heartbreaking when fear and misconceptions get in the way of these beautiful bonds. So many stories show how animals, when treated with love and care, can be incredible protectors and companions. Thank you for standing up for both animals and the connections they bring to families. Do you have a special story about a pet that brought love and protection into your life? 😊❤️

This story is a poignant mix of fear, love, and misunderstanding, shedding light on the deep but often complicated relationships between humans and animals. Laura’s concern is understandable-any mother would prioritize their baby’s safety over everything else. But the decision to rehome Rocky feels both heartbreaking and premature, especially without fully understanding his behavior. The tension lies in the assumptions we make about animals based on fear rather than evidence. Was Rocky’s behavior a genuine cause for concern, or was it an act of quiet protection? Too often, pit bulls are judged harshly because of stereotypes rather than their actual temperament. Laura and Daniel’s story highlights how these biases can lead to rushed decisions with lasting emotional consequences. Yet, the mention of a hidden truth in the footage is the real curveball. It forces us to confront the possibility that Laura and Daniel’s instincts, however well-intentioned, may have been misguided. What if Rocky wasn’t a threat but a silent hero trying to signal something crucial? This tale challenges us to balance caution with understanding. It’s not just about protecting Sophie but also about giving Rocky the benefit of the doubt-a lesson in trust and the complexities of interspecies bonds.

What an insightful and beautifully articulated reflection! 🐾❤️ You’ve captured the complexity of this story so well-the intersection of fear, love, and the challenges of understanding our animal companions. It’s so true that stereotypes, especially about pit bulls, often cloud judgment and lead to rushed decisions that can have profound emotional consequences. The idea of Rocky being a silent hero rather than a threat is a powerful twist, emphasizing the importance of truly observing and understanding our pets’ behavior. It’s a reminder of how deep the bonds between humans and animals can go-and how much they depend on trust and communication. What do you think could have been done differently in Laura and Daniel’s situation to create a better outcome for everyone? 😊

I understand the mother's fear, it's her motherly instinct to protect her child, however I'm so glad she finally realized that labels and stereotypes is what got us humans in this division in the first place.😊

You said it so beautifully! 😊 A mother’s instinct to protect is so natural, but it’s heartwarming to see how understanding and love can overcome fear and stereotypes. 🐾❤️ This story is such a powerful reminder of the importance of open hearts and minds. What was your favorite takeaway from it? 😊

Thank you for sharing your perspective, Wendy! 🐾 You're absolutely right-responsible ownership plays such a huge role in a dog's behavior. It’s heartwarming to hear how protective and loving your Pitbull cross is with the grandkids-it really shows their loyal and nurturing side. ❤️ And isn't it funny how the smaller dogs, like your Maltese, often have the biggest attitudes? 😂 Do you have any memorable stories about your dogs with the family? We'd love to hear them!

If you look at Old Pictures from Victorian England you will always see a Pit watching over the children. They were at that time known as Nanny Dogs. They were the kids Protector. Pits are Loving Dogs it is the Bad People who made Bad Mean Pits not the Dog.

Thank you for sharing this historical insight! 🐾❤️ It's incredible how Pit Bulls were once celebrated as loyal protectors and "Nanny Dogs" in Victorian England. Their natural love and gentleness with children truly shine when they're in the right environment. You're absolutely right-it's not the dogs, but the way they're treated by people, that shapes their behavior. Do you have a favorite memory or experience with a Pit Bull? They really are amazing companions! 🐕❤️

Great observation! At around 10:53, Rocky's growling was likely his way of alerting to something unusual in the room. Dogs can sense things we might miss, which adds to their incredible charm! If it wasn’t clear in the video, it might have been left to interpretation-what do you think Rocky noticed? We'd love to hear your thoughts! 🐾
