That is such a cool old barn that the heifers are in. I hope Brent can keep up with any repairs on it and save it for years to come. They don't make them like that anymore. I just love the fact you folks still milk old school and still use the older equipment . KEEP ON FARMING!!!

Mornin Taylor. Loved this video. Glad your cows are doing better. When I was on the farm we had a detached Milk House. It held 6 cans overnight. In the morning, we would pull them out of the chiller. Basically, a tank that held water that was cooled to around 35 to 40 degrees. Most times we had 4 or 5 cans of milk in the chiller and 4 to 5 cans of milk from morning milking. So about 10 cans in all. We would take it down to the creamery by ourselves. They would test the milk right then. If there was anything wrong, they would reject it and send to back to us. Loved farming, a good life. Say hello to Brent and God Bless.

Thanks for the video, Taylor. Lots to do on a farm. Keeps several people busy for sure. Having Brent nearby when you are in the tank is probably a really good idea - you need backup when you are in a confined space like that! Take care and stay warm! 😀

Another great video, sweetie😊 milking in a stantion or tie stall is so much nicer in winter. It’s nice seeing the cute little calves that are coming. Good thing you’re a fit little woman to get in and out of that tank lol today was only the second day this month. It got above freezing and finally we had a morning that was not below zero and it wasn’t even in the single digit for a change. It was 12 above. Stay warm and safe up there. 🤗

Taylor, about your hardware cow. You should go ahead and give her a second magnet. We used to have good results with that. Not that the first one is no good, but we always felt that maybe it’s not lying in the correct position to grab that nail. Dropping in another gives you a second chance of it getting to the current hardware problem.

I'm thinking a squirt bottle might be more effective in dispersing the soap onto the tank walls and give better coverage. Also, when scrubing the tank walls, a battery-operated rotating 8" scrub brush might do a better job of cleaning and maybe do it in less time. Maybe. I also think it might be a good idea to buy a pair of cheap sneakers to be used just for cleaning out the tank.

Please be careful working in enclosed spaces like a milk tank. I worked industrial maintenance for a good portion of my life and have known people who suffered illness and even death from exposer to cleaning chemicals in tanks and other enclosed spaces. sometimes two otherwise harmless chemicals do not react to each other well and can rod you of breathable air in a space like a tank. Love your videos and look for to your chatter as you talk about the farm.

My last job sometimes involved crawling through a rotary sterilizer with a smaller opening than the one you just went through. It was very crowded with a revolving cage like reel that caused cans of product to go around and also proceed forward as the product was sterilized. Sometimes a can would come out dented and then we had to go in and find out what was causing the dented cans. What was worse was when a can got crushed and spilled milk all over and locked up the reel and we had to go in and free up everything with milky product dripping on us. This didn't happen very often but it always seemed to happen on my shift. The vessels were anywhere from 30-60 feet in length and very warm and wet. Not a pleasant job and it would take several hours to correct the problem. At least we didn't have to scrub them clean, we just ran hot water and steam through them after we were done. What a novel, Huh Also, our milk tanks had spray balls inside the were full of holes and the cleaning chemicals were sprayed in them every time they were emptied, usually once a day, jack

Rare to see a Zero tank nowadays. Parts are about impossible to find. They never washed the greatest…much better than a Girton. Everything had to be perfect to wash well. Only tank made that washed by running agitators in reverse. Nice dairy farm. Very clean.
