Like with a/c when we run high voltage the amp draw is lower . I used be crazy about R/C boats back in my younger years (Traxxas Villain IV amongst others circa 2001🤘) I'm now revisiting the hobby via KZbin. SUUPER interesting that the internal hardware is no longer the limiting factor on speed. It's actually the hull / trim of the boat and the aerodynamic forces of air. Are there other hulls at the same size that could handle much faster than 92mph without going airborne?? Or submarine for that matter...?

I’ve a problem with the blackjack 42 It falls back in power after a second when pull full throttle. Sometimes at half throttle. When I build speed up slowly it goes better but still cuts off power for a second or so at the end with full throttle and power comes back direct after that. And so on. Dont know what the problem is. Battery packs are new. Have 2x 4s 100c 8000mah and 2x 4s 140c 5500mah Did reset and calibrate the esc with the new changed futaba receiver but didnt solve the problem. I use a futaba 4tpx transmitter with r304sb receiver Is it something with timing or lvc? Temps of motor esc and batteries and plugs are arround 35-40C (95-105F) so tha should be ok. Boat is new. Only used it about 3-4 times. It has the boatbitz trim tabs, cooling upgrade and prop upgrade. Strut and trimtabs are installed in line with the bottum of the boat as in your videos. Sort of flat neutral. So any help is welcome
@IRONCLADRC Жыл бұрын
What prop are you running? If the prop is to big for the electronics the esc will go into a lvc cut, because the prop is putting alot of load on the electronics causing voltage drop making the esc think it hit low voltage. Prop in combination with the overall weight of the boat, try Propping down a little bit, or you could try going down on your timing one
@ericdelmeer Жыл бұрын
The prop is a stage 2 prop from boatbitz that came with the cooling and trimtabs as a set. I believe its a 4814 (2 blade) It says proboat on it but no numbers. But when I messure the prop its 48mm. When it does a full sometimes speed is about 52-53mph gps But most of the times it cuts the power of when it goes fast. I will try the stock prop soon to see if that is the problem. Can the trimtabs and strut cause so much friction that it does a lvc too?

I've noticed you run rather short water jackets and no water cooled motor mount. Think 124 F on 8 S is somewhat steep........ Single set up always is demanding for the motor for it requires counter steering or asymetrical drive line set up. For me reasen enough to use twins. The TP 4070 CM is a peach as is your 42. Kv for Kv? If its true kv rating then regardless of the copper its should turn the same rpm per volt. You lost me on that. If it turns any different speed then the kv rating is wrong.
@IRONCLADRC Жыл бұрын
On paper yea, it should turn the same rpm, but real world is a whole different animal. Take a surpass rocket 4082 2000kv and a tppower 4060cn (4082) 2000kv.. Which motor is gonna be faster? The tppower motor will be! Everything the same, the only difference is brand. Copper in a motor makes a huge difference with a motors performance.. This is my opinion. I've tested lo lots of different motor over the years, just speaking from my own experiences.
@ralphhondaman Жыл бұрын
@IRONCLADRC ok I do get what you are saying. But if one motor turns faster then the other. Then they are not matching kv. Kv is rpm per volt. Say 1100kv is 1100kv. If it spins faster then that then its not 1100kv.
@ralphhondaman Жыл бұрын
@IRONCLADRC maybe you're thinking about more torque? Because if both are 2000kv then they both should spin the same speed. Torque will get you to speed faster. But then too you have to consider poles then. 4 pole 6 pole. 6 pole will turn rpm faster but less torque.
@IRONCLADRC Жыл бұрын
The key word in this argument is "should" in theory they "should" turn the same rpm per volt. They "should" have the same torque. If both motors are the same, the only difference is brand/material right. On paper like I said yea, but in a boat it's a different story. The point is that material, (copper,magnets) a brushless motor, is constructed from makes a huge difference torque, rpm, heat Dissipation etc. I've even gotten the same exact motor, and one motor be a consistent 3-5mph faster than the other... Same motor in every way, the manufacturer possibly used a different stock of materials in the build process, causing one to outperform the other. Just saying
@ralphhondaman Жыл бұрын
@IRONCLADRC what it comes down to is how efficient the motor is. They key is to find where the motor makes its best power. Adding volts to make it spin faster isn't always the best option because the motor because less efficient and more heat.

Bruh I’m telling y’all, the whole problem with the 42 is it’s under powered that’s why it flips so bad. More power keeps the nose where you want it, DOWN. And pretty sure your heat issue is that cooling jacket, that’s way too short, not enough can is covered
@IRONCLADRC Жыл бұрын

So... you were not near full throttle... 1400kv on 8s are already reasonable rpm's (with a bigger prop). Lets see what happens on 12s, looks bit crazy to me, but when you don't try you won't know... Or its totally nuts and crazy fast or........
