This video isn’t meant to be a jab at Harley-Davidson or the dealership where I bought this bike. The bike and the dealership are both great. My point is just how different MY bike felt in comparison to the one I test rode. Yes, I was in a hurry to get it home, and yes, I’m sure the dealership would have set it up for me, but I’m not afraid to turn a wrench, so in the end, no harm, no foul. 👍🏻

Harley has struck me as a high volume dealer that isn't as dialed into the customer experience, seems like it's not too much to ask to get set up right when you're dropping the coin on a new bike That said, you mentioned they pulled it from another dealer's stock, maybe that dealer took it out of spec for a buyer that backed out Cool bike, nice buy

Most new bikes are delivered to the dealerships in crates. Parts that stick out like the parts you had to adjust are installed at the dealer. They should have adjusted everything to fit before you left.

I now need to have the rear brake lever raised a bit, no bite at all until pushed right down. The bars too are difficult to reach at full lock, but I can live with that. In December 2019 I bought a river rock gray 2020 Street Bob. After a Triumph Thunderbird 1700 SE and a Buell XB12r and a couple of other Bikes I found THAT bike that offers the comfort of the Triumph and the handling of the Buell(nearly). The Street Bob is the best Motorcycle I have ever owned. When I sit on my Street Bob, I can’t stop riding. My longest one day turn was a 704Km turn. Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany. The only crappy thing on this bike was the original passenger pillow. Much, much to expensive and hard like stone. No one can sit on this crappy pillow. For longer turns with a passenger I bought the Sundowner seat. The original Dunlop’s are great in good weather conditions, but they are dangerous in rain. I will change them into Metzler. I did 12.000Km in 10 month with the Street Bob. I love it👍🏻

I only worked in a motorcycle shop during one summer in highschool back in 1968 -69 timeframe . We had every bike adjusted to the specific rider and never just let anyone head out without making sure all controls & comfort items were set just perfectly. Not sure if you've done a video on these ideas but have you done one on cold weather gear (I think you did one on gloves IIRC) and one on how to set up a helmet camera (what you use, how to attach it, how to get the videos onto youtube). They'd make great videos if you haven't and you have some time. Either way, thank you for making these videos! Love the scenery out there. Oh yeah, and buyers remorse can really start creeping up on you if something feels wrong with an expensive purchase. The dealer's machanic should have noticed the "strange" control settings when he did the PDI and then reset them to something more average. The salesman would probably have had it done for you if you had asked, but you're better off doing it yourself in your own time. No need to rush; get it right first time. I would imagine every bike sold needs a little tweaking by its owner. That's the difference between just driving a car and riding a motorcycle.

I bought a 2019 Road King Special on the May 31, 2019. Ironically, I never test rode it but man do I love it. I just knew it was the bike for me though as odd as that may sound. About a month or two later, I did replace the stock mini apes for 14" carlini apes and avon grips. Those bars though made so much of a difference. 100% agree setup is everything.I got on my bike when i first got it and thought it was the most uncomfortable bike i had ever ridden . Forward controls and big apes pushed way too far forward made it feel like it was totally unstable going down the road I thought I was going to have to get rid of the four controls and maybe even go to like a drag bar style. But just a few tweaks to the handlebars themselves basically just loosening the nuts and pulling the handlebars back to where I was comfortable just sitting there without the bike going down the road made a huge difference .Now i am fully comfortable with the bike even with the forward controls. I couldn't imagine having mid controls on it .Feels great after a few tweeks .

Modifications i did were:- mini ape handlebars, forward controls, custom made seat, custom made sissy bar with pillion pad, mx style foot pegs, wire tuck. I've ridden and owned Harleys for the past 24 years. Every bike I have purchased (5 at this point ranging from Sportster, Dyna, Softail, and Touring). Each time the dealer made sure the bike was set up for me before I rode off. The bikes basically come put together in a crate and the initial setup is just enough to get it on the showroom floor from there it is up to you to personalize it to fit you. The test ride bikes are usually tweaked for the average rider; so they are a bit more dialed for most people.

I'm not catching your videos in order, sorry. Glad you finally have her dialed in now. Don't know what state you live in, but I'm in Georgia and I took my softtail up to ride the Dragon on Tenn. and N. Carolina. I loved scrapping my foot pegs on all the curves. 318 curves in 11 miles is mind blowing. You should try it if you have never been.

That road is on my bucket list for sure, but I doubt I’ll ever get to ride it.

Yes, I test drove a used 2014 street bob with the stock handlebars pushed way too forward. A mechanic was more than happy to adjust them for me there. I still didn't like it though. The v&h pipes were too loud and I didn't like the flat black color that much. I did get the 2013 near stock superglide custom they had. I liked how it felt and it was $1000 cheaper! The dealer was Wild West Harley Davidson of Lubbock TX. Great people there! Cool ride btw!

It's kinda funny - I bought a used 2013 FLSTC in a private sale. She sat for about 4 years in a toy carrier (trailer). The second day I rode her, I'm thinking the same thing you were. It didn't handle the interstate well (felt very unstable), the controls were uncomfortable, I had the same death-grip on the throttle, the ride was harsh ... and the list goes on. I had the same OMG, did I just make a huge mistake buyer's remorse thoughts! I had to: - Adjust the controls - Wear the slickness off the grips - remember, sat in a trailer for 4 years - Seriously adjust the suspension pre-load - And, the biggest thing - new tires. They were 7 years old and hard as stone, especially the front. After all the above and some time getting used to the differences between an HD and a metric - well, I absolutely love my ride!

Rear mono shock changes the bike completely. 2 is for 250lbs or so guy It affects much more then just bounce over rough parts, it changes cornering, vibration, etc. my FatBoy has a dial to just change in the fly so I’ve played around a lot with it. If you feel like the road is bouncing you a lot, raise the number...if it’s always stiff lower it, takes some playing and each bike responds differently at the same number....also there are a lot of clicks between the number, each one is noticeable to me.

I love Harley's, but until they match or better the cost/performance/reliability trifecta of metric cruisers, they will continue to be bikes I just like looking at before I go buy something else. Congrats on your bike though. Glad it makes you happy.

The performance of the Milwaukee 8 engine actually exceeds its metric cousins, and the legacy of reliability issues is a leftover myth from the AMF years. As for price, that will never drop to metric levels because everything that's made of plastic on, for example, a Shadow (e.g. fenders, exhaust covers, side tins) is steel on a Harley.

I understand where you are coming from. I just spent $30,000 on a 2020 Street Glide Special that I looked at, rode and fell in love with. It's not exactly the way I want it, but it's the bike I wanted and I am in the process of making it the way that I want it and fit me.

1) I’ve ordered a cruise control kit for my FXST. Yours is the first video that’s mentioned one. 2) The stock seat can cause some pain; looks good, but that’s it.
