@marksmanmax11583 жыл бұрын
I question the AP rounds on the Welrod as it doesn't really do much. It makes the Welrod a three-shot kill against Heavy Armor at close range, but since you're supposed to go for headshots anyway, just spend that supply somewhere else. Besides that, the Welrod with the 1.5x scope is actually pretty fucking scary if used right.
@SickSnipes3 жыл бұрын
the AP round isn't always for armor, it's for the occasional penetration kill.
@marksmanmax11583 жыл бұрын
@@SickSnipes Can you actually penetrate anything with AP on a 9mm handgun? I mean, the Honey Badger has more penetration power than the AUG but can't shoot through walls while the AUG can.
@marksmanmax11583 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I just went in-game to test the AP on the Welrod and it's barely noticable. Velocity is what matters the most with penetration, and don't ask me what the pen power stat is supposed to reflect. I don't know either.

@alexguymon71173 жыл бұрын
I love how whenever a fps implements a historical or oddball firearm, it almost invariably becomes OP in some way or another in order for it to be usable. Like the Mosin should literally be the worst gun in the game but because they don't model how garbage the action or stripper clips are, it works like a charm. Irl, most service rifles produced before 1945 only had a maximum accuracy of about 3.0 MOA. And that's if you got a good rifle. 4-5 is more typical.
@angquangnguyenthac28333 жыл бұрын
Finnish Mosins begsbto differs
@alexguymon71173 жыл бұрын
@@angquangnguyenthac2833 well the Finnish Mosin is only a better Mosin, which isn't saying a lot. They really only changed the sights, rebarreled it and added a nicer stock. The action and magazine is left unchanged, and they use the same junk stripper clips. The Mosin is obsolete, as are basically all firearms from before 1945, save for automatics and pistols.
@angquangnguyenthac28333 жыл бұрын
@@alexguymon7117 not quite. Most Finnish Mosin (and most 1924-1936 Mosin) was made with betterquality control than WW2 Mosin so they tend to be way more accurate, which leads to them being able to snipe. These rifle ending up became known as "Mosin Sniper Variant" since they are more accurate than the average (1.5-2 MoA). Which also being attaching the PU scope. Some of these rifles might ending up in the hand of an insurgents and giving him good accuracy altogether.
@alexguymon71173 жыл бұрын
@@angquangnguyenthac2833 it's unlikely that any Finnish rifles would reach Syria for one. Secondly, the Mosin itself is a mechanically inefficient design, and even if it was a newly made rifle from the 1930s, it would still suffer from the same issues (gummy trigger, sloppy/tight actions, difficult to load magazine) If it did reach Syria, it was likely put through hell and has fired hundreds if both thousands of rounds before that point, as most Mosins that ended up as being supplied as war aid came from the USSR in the 50s and 60s. Unless it was rebarreled and refurbished, which is unlikely as hardly any nation did so, it would have worse accuracy and reliability then when it entered service. Yes, the Mosin in game is modelled as a sniper model, but it is a Soviet M1891/30 variant, with the scope bracket matching that of the 2.5x PU scope of WWII vintage (the PU entered service in 1941/42) and wouldn't be a top of the line rifle anyhow, even if it hadn't seen decades of abuse in Africa or SE Asia before reaching Syria.
@angquangnguyenthac28333 жыл бұрын
@@alexguymon7117 Like I said, it probably isn't top of the line, but those whose survived the war without worn barrel tend to be the sniper variant, which fits the fact that even Insurgents can have something like it. The bolting speed is a little bit ridiculous I agree, but it's kinda the problem with greased bolt mod in general.

maybe I'm being picky but I feel like the mosin should have more recoil, feels lower than on a 5.56 round
@sterlingd19843 жыл бұрын
Irl it's a long, heavy rifle for a bolty and bolt actions have less recoil than self loading rifles because of no reciprocating bolt
@antiquatedideas11073 жыл бұрын
@@sterlingd1984 @baboon completely right. A 5.56 AR has more recoil than my M48. I'd say it's honestly comparable to an m1 carbine
@samanthascott12713 жыл бұрын
@@sterlingd1984 The mechanism of semiautomatic weapons actually absorbs quite a large chunk of recoil. It’s mainly through how large and heavy Mosin’s gun is that it has low perceived recoil.
@sterlingd19843 жыл бұрын
@@samanthascott1271 that's what I was referring to, and yes the reciprocating bolt does lend to more recoil when moving back toward the user, but it also helps put the muzzle back on target when moving forward

Honestly, the amount of recoil of a bolt action in a game is pretty much redundant regardless, because you're forced to take a second to cycle it after every shot, so recoil for those weapons is pretty much just for aesthetics

I love my mosin but the issue with the real life counter part is it's bolt. Compared to the Germans bolt guns is garbage. There is a reason we use the German design to this day in modern bolt guns and not the Mosin. While I love the rifle its bolt is really a step behind it's Western counter part but the ammo is truly one of my favorite to shoot and the power behind it makes it a great hunting rifle over being a home defense gun. Plus it looks good on a wall

Well, honestly it just depends. There are some that have been taken care of properly that can land all five shots within an inch at 100 feet, like the Finnish Mosins.
