My Hardest Drag Week Ever Just Got Harder (I Might Have Broken Steve Morris)

We still hold the lead at Drag Week after two days, but we are exhausted. Hardly any sleep and just constant problems and it continued today. We had to open up the Steve Morris SMX motor a second time to take a look, and there’s a number of things going on. Day three is going to be unpredictable, we’re changing a lot of stuff. Our friends like Alex Taylor, Dave Schroeder, Bryant Goldstone and the Swedes are all having a much better time though.

Alex is such a great competitor and role model for other women to get into the sport. I love seeing her out there always running at the top of the class, giving the other big dogs some serious competition breathing down their necks. And it's always heartwarming to see her father right alongside her doing everything they can to make that car haul the mail.

Didnt you guys make some changes to the fuel system plumbing before the race started? Something was changed so it didnt backflow the filter, some lines were capped and redirected? Were they all drained/flushed? Maybe a line that was prefilter is now post filter and it had some sh!t in it...

When I saw the silver specks in the fuel a couple days ago, I thought then that it couldn't be good going through the injectors. I'd bet the pump is grinding itself apart inside! If it gets swapped out, I'd like to see what it looks like inside! Good luck Steve and Tom!

We had a motor with a bad ecm ground keep scattering timing and killing a couple pistons. Just an idea to check

Re the Javelin,, I have been a fan of that hotrod since I first saw it a couple or more years ago. It's just too cool - - and FAST AF! We were soooo happy that after wrecking it so badly, saying he was done with it,, he then (after a bunch of support from family and friends) decided to rebuild it and bring it back better than it was. It ran a pretty decent pass, he said it was their fastest (not their quickest) to date but the door kin separates from the car. We wish him all the best for this and all the other drive and drag events he chooses to do. Personally I'd like to see that hotrod take the title of QUICKEST Door Car from our friend Tom. We do love our Tom and aren't wishing him any bad luck at all,, but it bee cool IF the Javelin snagged that title - for at least a little while - then see Tom come back and retake that crown :)

I use Bestline for the friction.Even if it over heats it wont cook the pistons.

Can you program it to cut all spark/fuel if it runs too lean? Seems like that would be a good failsafe to prevent engine damage 🤷‍♂️

i don't know much about methanol, but have you considered bad fuel knocking the piston heads?? i have seen that happen with regular fuel (EU oktane 100) without beeing able to see it on EGT or 02 sensor. but found it after installing knocksensor?

Steve is your fuel cell for methanol aluminum ? If it is not coated , methanol will eat aluminum . Looks like floating metal flakes . Plugs up everything. I am sure you know this . But I figured I would throw it out there .
