U20 tournaments have some of the future best players in the world. Best among them could already be better than many regular NHLers. It's very high quality hockey. Canada always has the pressure to win in pretty much any international event because they're the biggest and best hockey country. Of course they can't win one game elimination tournaments every time, just like a dominant NHL team sometimes loses to bottom tier teams. People need to relax and realize that the best does not always win. Or at least that no team is able to be at their best in every game they play (Especially if there are attitude problems and thinking they can just walk over anyone. Lack of effort quickly diminishes any skill advantage). And sometimes it's just a matter of luck. That is always present in low scoring sports where every goal matters.
@UBSDREAMZz5 жыл бұрын
When Sid talked about Canada not caring about the development of players is very true in my opinion. I've been playing hockey ever since I was 5 at a competitive level. I played AAA hockey in the GTHL from 13-16 years old. Let me tell you if your parents have money you will play. The coaches prefer to accept cash over talent. The same thing goes for the OJHL. I played there from 17-18. The first year I sat a lot due to me being a rookie. Yet two kids on the team paid 10k extra to play top 2 lines. I eventually moved to Sweden to play hockey and here they care about player development. They care less about winning and more about player development. That's why there has been an increase in players drafted out how Sweden and making one hell of a career in the show.
@hockeyislife41225 жыл бұрын
ImDifferentOk Well here in manitoba we get taxed roughly 40% of our money if you make a decent living. So I can see taking the extra money😂😂 nah but all jokes aside it's sad canada doesn't produce more talent. Look at our old juniors where we had powerhouse teams. People cared back then.

Canadians have a lot to learn from other countries' hockey fans. Finns, for example, care deeply about hockey. Almost as much as Canada. But if we lose, what do we do? We suck it up, accept our loss and move on. We don't harass the players, especially young kids. As much as it may hurt to admit to Canadians, you don't own this sport anymore, and others are catching up fast. Hockey has become a lot less predictable and more competitive in the last 10-15 years. It's no shame to lose to Sweden, Finland, USA, Russia, Czechs or even the Swiss anymore. Having faith and confidence in your team is good, but you have to learn how to lose, ffs.

The pressure is fine. If they didn't want pressure then they should have become soccer players. No one cares what Canadians accomplish in soccer so no worries if they fail. This is the most popular sport in the country in a tournament being held in Canada. There should be pressure. These guys should feel bad about what happened. Not just the players, but the coaching staff and the people who picked the team. They all failed. It shouldn't destroy them, but they should feel bad about it. Losing and failure is supposed to hurt. Extremes are bad all over though. You shouldn't hunt people down to harass them over social media. Just like you shouldn't stalk people you idolize. People do need to pick a place to stand. Either it is fine to get hyped about these things or it isn't. And if it isn't then stop hyping up past success. Things like the Summit Series or the Miracle on Ice shouldn't get any attention. They were just hockey games that didn't matter right?
