Sid Meier’s Pirates is one of the best games ever made. After 20 years I can still boot up this game and have a good time. The minigames of Fencing, dancing, land combat, and ship combat gain more depth with each difficulty level. No two games are the same as all locations for every aspect (treasures, pirates, daughters, relatives, and the main villains) are randomly determined with each new game. Simple but elegant

I loved this game so much but yeah it really has no right to be as addictive as it is lol. Plus something very soothing hearing the wind blowing through the sails.

The iPad port for this was goated. I preferred the siege minigame they reworked and found the dancing much easier with touch screeb

Its a great sandbox game. I also really liked the even older cutthroats. Though that game was a lot less polished.

I'm thinking about getting Gold (the OG Pirates remaster from the 90's). It looks interesting.
