Holy smokes! I completely forgot about this game, I used to play this game so much with my dad on the PSP! I'm so glad that you're covering this game, it's often forgotten about when talking about Sid. You could make a series type think where you go through frequently forgotten or obscure games per console, that would definitely be fun because my god did the PSP have good games, the Ratchet & Clank+ Secret Agent Clank, MediEvil... it's nothing but banger game after banger. Love the video as always and keep on making these!

What a legendary game, the perfect mix between simplicity, variety, and addictive gameplay. I loved the game and might pick it up again since the disk won't work in modern pc.

It was also a game ripe for the Price GAME CLOSEST TO THE ORIGINAL NOVEL - or at least to the third part of it. Daniel Defoe had written it under the title THE ADVENTURES OF CAPTAIN SINGLETON. - there was also it´s abridged Youthbook copy MY FRIEND THE PIRAT.

I always though that Sea Dogs was the most popular pirate game. But then I found out that almost nobody knew this game and everybody played Sid Meier's Pirates. When I bought it on Steam I realized that its simplicity is what attracts people. Still great game tho.

@@TitusReviews Oh it was originally a Russian made game called First SEA DOGS, then PRIATES OF THE CARABBIAN and ant the end in the third version AGE OF PIRATES. all three games were about the same but they were a bit haevy handed done. and not so easy to play. more like RISEN 3 what also had a Pirate topic.

This sounds very similar to an old Sega Pirates game I played. Loved that one as a kid. Game was called Pirates! Gold. The game you're reviewing looks to have taken quite a few of its design elements from this game which came out in 1993.

It’s a variation of the same game, the original came out in 87 iirc. It’s been updated and playable I believe on PC and every console generation since with slight changes.

5:34 As long as you have over 1000 Gold per crew member, you can sail forever, I'm at over 420k right now in my playthough and have just under 420 crew with a Fleet of 4 ships, I main a Brig of War, my fleet ships are a Flag Galleon, a Treasure Galleon and a East Indianman.

Great review! I absolutely loved this game as a kid! I was just reminiscing a week ago 'damn, this game had an open world, multiple factions to join, various mini games....' It's kinda like a super simplified Immersive Sim, which to me is a cool concept. Sure, something like Kenshi is cool for the absurd stuff that can happen. But a game like this with simple gameplay mechanics can still have deep systems and player freedom going on. I guess recently, something like High Fleet is the more modern advanced version of this game. I still gotta try that out.

How do I play this with a 16:9 aspect ratio on Windows 11?

Game looks so weird on PC conpared to console, I play yhe Original Xbox version on my XBOX SERIES X, it has 16:9, is rendering on 4K (the UI is still lower rez), there is a transparent map you can toggle on while sailing which shows all main towns but not the Pirate Towns or Priest places whatever they are called. Sneeking into town is 3rd person and so many more different and arguably better versions of features. Only thing you miss out on is over the top land searching, it's automatic on console, as long as you are in tje right area, you'll automatically find the lpat ciry or family member etc

He won the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Screen Actors Guild. He had a TV show called Fantasy Island that was one of the most popular shows on television, so much so, that a remake of the show is currently in it's second season. Heard of the Spy Kids movies? He was the Spy Kid's grandfather. He's been on Family Guy, Dora the Explorer, Buzz Lightyear, Kimpossible and American Dad. He's been mocked on SNL. He was knighted by the Pope. Montalban. It's Montalban.

Montalban really was a great actor He played in a lot of TV shows like FANTASY ISLAND, HIGH CHAPERAL and others.
