Sid Vicious on the Ultimate Warrior match that made him tell Vince McMahon "I Quit" right after WWF Wrestlemania 8. Full shoot ➤ TitleMatchNetwork.com
Produced, licensed & distributed by Title Match Media LLC. Enjoy the full Sid Vicious shoot interview on our streaming subscription service, TitleMatchNetwork.com.
Title Match Media LLC digitally remastered the original raw footage, including color correction and advanced audio editing specifically for this KZbin release.
Back in 1992, Sid Vicious (then known as Sid Justice) was being built as the man to replace Hulk Hogan in Vince McMahon's WWF (now WWE). By the time Wrestlemania 8 came around in the Hoosier Dome, Sid found himself in the main event across from Hulk Hogan.
Right afterwards Sid Justice entered a program with the Ultimate Warrior (Jim Hellwig). Within months both men would be out of the company. So what was it about the matches vs Ultimate Warriors that made Sid quit the WWF to go back to WCW?

Fun story: My mom went to school in West Memphis, AR with Sid when they were kids. When I was around 10 my mom took me to a wrestling even that came to my hometown of Forrest City, AR which is about 30 minutes from West Memphis and Sid was there. Me and my mom went up to him after the event and he was surrounded by a ton of people so we didn't really get to talk, but he seemed like a nice guy.

Sid doesn't get nearly as much credit as he deserves. Yeah, not exactly a fantastic athlete or wrestler, but he was such a great character. So believably psychotic and imposing. His entrance in WWE in 95 - 97 was all kinds of cool and he was a big part of the reason why.

Agreed! I would say Sid finally reached a damn good spot, (or at least very close to the spot her originally wanted when he said he wanted hogan's spot), when he beat HBK at survivor series 1996, defended the wwf title in his second reign against undertaker at wrestlemania 13, and had the popularity that he did in late 1996 and all the way up to his final appearances in summer 1997.

I always liked his first run better. (Sid Justice era.) When he did the heel turn on Hogan, his character was at his most menacing. Look at the promo he does on Hogan for the build up of Wrestlemania. Sid Justice to Hulk Hogan: "(Soft voice) You couldn't beat Ric Flair on your best day...... (maniacal laughter)....... (loud voice) and you couldn't beat me on my worst... because I am the man... that rules..... the world." That was his best promo imho.

Hogan had a point for getting upset. Vince and whoever came up with this storyline which blew up in their faces and made Hogan look bad had messed everything up...it had nothing to do with Sid. Sid is just bitching as the same drama happens in all of wrestling...wwf or wcw...so whining about Hogan fussing at Vince makes no sense for leaving a company. Hogan didn't bitch to other wrestlers or come at Sid, he went to Vince and fussed about the poor storyline which did backfire in their faces

@@1980Triumph The fans were cheering when Hogan got eliminated, that's not on Vince. They had Sid do stuff that was villainous but the fans didn't care, they were done with hogan. Sid didn't leave just because of that. He was essentially promised hogan's spot and he passed on a ton of guaranteed money in WCW to go to WWF and do that role because it would have been more lucrative. 8 months or so in, they essentially had done nothing with his character and he wasn't making what he was told he would. They finally looked like they were going to give him his big push and Hogan tantrumed and Vince changed the plans. Then he was supposed to work with Warrior and he kept wanting to kick out of his finish which makes his character look bad. Remember, false finishes were much more rare back then. He's built up as a big monster and they're doing stuff that makes him look like a clown. I don't blame him for not wanting to stick around.
@1980Triumph
@1980Triumph 4 жыл бұрын
@@poopydoodie11 That is a bold face lie, it doesn't even make sense...if the fans booed Hogan because of his actions that came off bad not the fact that he was eliminated. What they had Hogan do made him look like a bad person and the fans reacted, this notion that fans had turned on him completely is ridiculous and certainly there is no actual video evidence of this. If they didn't like Hogan then they would boo him regardless and there would be no reason that Hogan would snap at Vince, Hogan was pissed because they made him look like a spoilsport and that was a creative decision and Hogan was pissed at Vince for it....and it had ZERO to do with Sid, Hogan didn't fuss or complain about Sid. Also Sid kicked out of Hogan's finisher so he isn't one to really complain either. Even with dwindling popularity the idea that Sid was more popular than Hogan EVER is absurd and not based in reality.
@poopydoodie11
@poopydoodie11 4 жыл бұрын
It's not a lie. The fans cheered when Sid eliminated Hulk even though he snuck up on Hogan to look more villanous. Then they booed when Hogan helped Sid get eliminated. What other reason would they cheer him being eliminated? There is video evidence of this. It's harder to find because you need to see the original ppv feed. WWE edited the crowd reaction on the home video release and had gorilla monsoon re-record his dialogue to emphasize the Sid was the villain. Again it's harder to find the original footage but the crowd absolutely cheered when Sid eliminated Hogan. Why do you think that is? The majority of fans that had grown up with him in the 80s were ready for something new. Hulk had some creative control at that point, do you really think he would've agreed to it if he thought it was a bad idea? He was upset Sid was cheered and he was booed. Obviously they didn't want to make Hogan look too bad but it was clear they were tying to get Sid over and Hulk wasn't happy that it was done at his expense. I'm not trying to say Sid was more popular than Hulk overall, but at that specific time, he absolutely was due to him being a fresh face that gave the fans something new. Secondly, Sid didn't kick out of the leg drop because it was scripted to make him look strong. He had to out of necessity because papa shango botched the finish. It was supposed to be a dq finish and godfather was late running to the ring. Sid was forced to kick out to keep the finish intact. Godfather and Sid have bother confirmed this. It wasn't done to make him look strong.

Joe Pesci what trial are you referring to? He did admit (though was still BS’ing a lot) during mchmahon’s trial - but he would Also later deny it more later in life. To be fair, just about every wrestler and pro athlete has been using for decades - and gym day... I was a trainer of athletes and gym denizens back in the 90’s we all knew it... there just the way it was. It’s a bit shocking that wrestling has cleaned up as much as it has - though there’s still plenty of uses around (and you can’t tell by appearance for many). Most world class and even national level athlete are still drowning in performance enhancing drugs (not just steroids by any means).

Claims to have not known that it was Wrestlemania 8 when he worked, thought it was just another show. When we was really young watching wrestling at a family friends house, one of the kids who was just a few years older than me would do the entrance at the same time. He would blast the volume up, go out the room to the far end of the hallway, as soon as the intro was done and his entrance music came on, he would come running down the hallway at high speeds, I would imagine as fast as possible lol, hearing his footsteps banging the carpeted floor and then open the living room door and run around in there whilst breathing heavy and with having the angry face on and trying to speak like him 😂🤣. I'm surprised he didn't just run out on the streets and gorilla press a passer by 🤣

Just the energy of the dude . Even in those crazy promos . As a kid he came across like he man or some shit plus he was a bit more ripped than the rest of the wrestlers . He had a good upright suplex and overhead press , he was a bit stiff because of how much weights he lifted and he was new to the business but he could do things alot of wrestlers couldn't do

I love Sid. He's a local guy here on the midsouth, who I saw alot on Saturday mornings on Channel 5 wrestling. He did his job well. He acted the part and certainly looked the part, of being one of the scariest, most intimidating wrestling heels, in the history of that business. He was GREAT at being that character. I said that to say, that when Sid told Vince he wanted Hogan's spot, if Vince had given it to him, it would have most likely killed his career. Especially on a international level. There's no way he could have pulled off a babyface character. I mean, can anyone picture Sid, with an upbeat personality, and having to wear a smile for the kids? Especially at that time, when he was so full of juice, that his eyeballs floated. 😂

When Sid was introduced in 1990 he stood face to face with Undertaker and was unhinged, when nobody could stand eye-to-eye with Undertaker at that time. I was shocked to see that.
