ABORT MISSION. I ain’t someone to be so black and white about something and say “leave him!” But this guy has MAJOR red flags and talking from experience, men like that lack boundaries. Lack of boundaries are a gateway for betrayal and disrespect. Men are so capable of lying to you with utter conviction, so please don’t trust him. If these women don’t hold importance to him like that, then why isn’t he prioritising your relationship over his trivial friendships? Please listen to your gut instinct and put your foot down. If he isn’t receptive to your concerns and gets all secretive etc, drop him. This is your non-negotiable. Stick to your guns sis. You’re completely in the right.

I am not Muslim, but love & respect the familial culture & religion very much. I come from parents where my father rekindled with his “best friend”, then he abandoned our family, but raised her children instead. I’d need a full day just to list off how that messed up my siblings & I, including my step siblings as well. We’re actually all pretty connected, regardless of biological lineage. Although lost one recently to drugs. Our parents chose their desires, over parenting children though. So that’s one perspective that I have. I also, forgave my own spouse for his negative behaviors with his female friends. I choose my children & their happiness, due to how I grew up. I was close friends to a few guys growing up. Loved them on a real friendship level, but when I married & they all found partners, I felt the need to back off from their energy. It’s no disrespect to their ladies, it’s actually out of complete respect for their relationships. I’ll happily hang out with them, at weddings or gatherings with lots of people. But I have my family & they have theirs. This is my tribe, theirs is theirs. It sounds weird, but it’s the best way to keep a family healthy, especially children. I’m just lucky that my partner chose living a better existence rather than the typical “side chick” life, that seems to be in fashion these days. I guess I already lived the negative impacts of that in my childhood & really lost the luxury of childhood completely… so now I see how & why that’s such an attack upon the family unit & all families. I think it’s a huge reason this planet struggles so hard. Family is important & creating chaos, sucks the life from others. I just wish people could bring back the sacredness in love, partnership, family & marriage. It’s okay to keep that space as clear & honest as possible. People know in their mind, where boundaries should lie.

If he is in touch with her or shares his personal feelings or talks about his day to day life with her thats a big red flag, i think having female friends who are happily married and have families of their own isnt an issue, i personally dealt with a situation like this. My husband has a ton of female friends, all married and have kids. One of them he use to be super close with and at first i was like those people who didnt think it was a big deal but when i noticed my husband leaving the house and leaving for hours, making excuses to go out for walks, hiding his phone etc, i found out he was secretly meeting her, i blew up at him and asked why i never met her husband or kid and why are you meeting her alone?! Turns out she wasnt happy in her marriage and was going to my husband for advice which ended up becoming an emotional affair, had i not stepped in and threaten my husband with divorce he wouldve continued, If that girl isnt in a happy marriage and keeps in touch with the guy or meets up at different places (alone) or even has each others phone numbers its a big no

What is an emotional affair? I’ve never heard of that until recently
@zarahshabs79362 жыл бұрын
@@TranquilWanderer an emotional affair is that you never did anything physically sexual with the other person but you have some feelings for them-- could be love them/in love with them, or like them to some capacity that you have to hide things about the relationship from your partner. if you have to hide it because it seems bad, you're emotionally invested in a way that is inappropriate, and you're not seeing each other as strictly platonic friends anymore

I think when you get in to serious romantic relationship your other relationships change as well. Even you friendships which same gender. I had a lot guy freinds from high school and we also went to uni together as well so we were really close freinds. However when I meet my husband and we got engaged I started to stop talking to them as much and we rarely hang out by ourselves anymore. One of them was actually really upset but I had to explain to him that am trying to respect my husband and the boundaries of my marriage. It was difficult for him to understand coz we were not doing anything wrong but the thing was my husband was now occupying the position he was filling. He was my best friend now and ya it’s sad but that’s life. So ya relationships change & it’s ok.

Like the prophet Muhammad saw had sed, if a non mahram girl and boy are alone or together, the third person is shaitaan. So dont trust that intentions can't change unless its a mahram. There should be limits in even cousins, never mind friends. In islam were not even allowed to have guy friends or girl friends. So the girl in the email is right to be offended and jealous, as he would if she had close guy friends. I know some people have grown up in very open life style with no real limits with who they befriend. But it doesn't make it right. Anything haram in our religion is haram for a reason and can never be good for us.

I think this seems to be the biggest issue here and I totally agree with the fact that this is wrong too. Also, it is great you mentioned that this is not only for Muslims because it is something that should not be normalized throughout. Lastly, even about the relationship being like a brother-in-law, he is still your non-mahram and humans are humans, Shaytaan will always be there. The Prophet SAW and the Sahabah warn us about this multiple times and I remember you guys have videos on this issue in the past as well. May Allah make things easier for all of us.

I know some married guys having close friendships in my office and it makes me so uncomfortable. Like theyre hugging, hanging out alone after office and shit. I never understand the need. Like why instead of going to your wife youre hanging out with a woman and why qre there no boundries in this friendship and how is his wife okau with her man having friendships like that. Its so odd. Another friend of mine feels the same way. I even feel off about women who dont undersyand that a guy is married now and they should have boundries with him out of respect for another woman who is his wife. I never find it okay. Ive had male friends but i never even shook hands with them or allowed sending them red hearts in chats, avoided hanging out wity them alone and stuff cos that makes it questionable even tho a lot of people were like thats a bit unnecessary but no if i think its not okay then it is not okay no one should tell me to relax my boundries. Cos no matter how "platonic" the relationship is, theres no reason to forget that the individual is from the opposite gender. You respect yourself by creating these boundries.

It's the fact that he had liked that person, though that person is married is speaking about their marriage issues and seeking divorce to him. Idk I would be feeling a bit off like I get you are friends and colleagues but at the same time try and distance yourself or put a boundary. Respecting your spouse. Because if the wife had a male friend who she had liked before and was speaking to him etc how would the husband feel its the history of the friendship. There was feelings involved!! Idm them having females friend but the history of it is a nono. Its about respect trust and knowing your boundaries. He shouldn't block them just bc the wife said he should have done it himself for the respect because who knows he'd blame her etc et.

I know you guys said it's not a Muslim thing, but it's important to really think about why we have certain guidelines in place. There's countless stories online of people (male and female) cheating on their spouse with friends or even worse brother/sister IN LAWS 🤢. In this scenario, it sounds like he never got over the female friend and wants to keep her on the back burner in case she ever reciprocates his feelings in the future. Kudos to you guys for encouraging her to vocalise it even if it goes against this 'modern/liberal muslim' trend.

Having friends of the opposite gender when you have a partner is unnecessary, unless you have boundaries. BUT having your EX as a friend, you must be mad. He’s still holding onto her for a reason, he still feels for her and he’s trying to persuade and reassure you that he doesn’t
@ha82362 жыл бұрын
Religion aside, there is a lot of research which states in friendship groups of the opposite genders, one always ends up liking the other. It was found it was often men that had different intentions and hoped something would come out a friendship if the stayed long enough. Whereas women genuinely wanted a Platonic relationship. So I think that's interesting. In this situation, why does her husband feel the need to remain friends. Also the fact he had feelings and she's not happy in her marriage could spark old feelings in him. His wife is right, even if its not the same now, out of respect for her feelings he shouldn't have a problem breaking that relationship. I think its odd he's refusing to distance himself and perhaps whether consciously or unconsciously he wants there to be more. Or atleast remain in close connection with her.
