I only use side discharge whenever I let my backyard get too tall. Discharge allows you to get more power out of lawn mower vs mulching or bagging.

That's exactly what I do too. I don't have a side discharge chute so I just use a bungee cord to hold the deflector open.

I use side discharge if it’s overgrown. Then come back on mulch after the clippings from first cut have dried out. Works well and yards clean after the following weeks cut.

I love the side rear discharge if the grass is high great to get it down .. I some times do one pass with the rear discharge then 2nd pass bag it seems to bag better ..

The Toro gas powered mower "mulches" very well. I was expecting better results during the mulching part of the video.

Thanks! I have about 1/3 acre of grass. It is not a high quality lawn, not watered or fertilized. I use the conventional side discharge only on my current personal pace. Will order the rear mounted side discharge for my new one. Thanks for the heads-up......

The side discharge works fine just have to go in a circler cut, so the discharge is staying on one side though most of the cut.

That grass looks awful short to me. I almost always have my side discharge on. I have a Toro 20333 purchased August 2016. I think it mulches the grass even with the side discharge on. Early in the season when we get a lot of rain I would have to side discharge to get through it. I like the idea of the new rear/side discharge. You have nothing on the side keeping you from getting close to whatever you are mowing around. I am disappointed Toro doesn't have the Spin Stop on more of their new models.

I love the blue knob for mulch or bagging on the Toro. Makes it easier then putting in a mulch plug and having to remove it to bag. The Toro Timemaster doesn't have that. It's a great feature.

I have a side discharge on the way. After one week, the mower struggles on mulch mode. I just want to get the grass cut this time of year. When the leaves fall, I’ll go back to mulch mode.

I need the side discharge because when the grass is wet or too high the machine bogs down and sometimes stalls. There are times when the side discharge is not needed and other times when it definitely is needed. Disappointing that it doesn't come with the machine but as long as it is available I can live with that.

I use both the mulcher an bagger. I run over the leaves, then bag them up. To me it seems to reduce to about a 10 to 1 ratio, makes for less bag dumps.

My Toro 60v doesn't have the mulch or the side options. Pretty basic and it wasn't cheap. I happily used it today for my final front lawn mow. I said that 4 days ago though. I might mow until it snows. *Bagger only*

That's called a rear discharge . I do side discharge and mowe inwards and as l square mowe inwards the leaves get mulched over and over so by the time I'm dine it's so small you can't see it

Same here. I can get the side chute free. They are sending it to me but it should come with the unit in the first place. The damn thing blows clippings onto me because I had to open the back discharge chute because the mower kept gagging. Not enough power. A poor design.

Register and they supposedly send it free, but good luck. I e been waiting 2 months for mine and they can’t even give me an estimate of when it will come. Just “Sorry. Supply problems. You’re on the list.”

You can request one when you register the mower at purchase. It does not come with mower. They ship it out if you want one.
