One thing I like about training with Sifu Gary Lam is that he is always watching and always coaching - even if he’s working one-on-one, he will watch the entire area with an eye on everything. When he sees something that needs attention, he will send an experienced student to help until he can come over himself. Great coach. Great Sifu. Side lop sau (both 面擸 and 反擸) is the best way to train shifting steps and bong wu sau (膀護手)😉 The video would be better if the footwork also filmed.

What is the shove for ? Is that what you do in the street as well to push them off balance, possibly to the ground ?

Yes. You push your opponent and let gravity take care of the rest. The trick of this technique is to be able to push without using any muscle. If you can do it effortlessly, then you're doing it correctly. In my experience, only Sifu Lam and two of his top students have been able to do this. In next week's video, you'll Sifu Lam do it.

@@Riserk1ngArm It's a high level skill and takes a while to develop. In short, you have to be able to touch your opponent and know where he's off balance.
