Actually we do know how the pyramids were built. They cut limestone from quarries in upper Egypt and shipped it via barges up the Nile then transported it to Giza via rolling logs. At Giza the limestone was refined into its square shape. Teams of workers would then move the blocks up a dirt ramp and heave it into place using a system of ropes and pullies. The workers were split into two groups - skilled laborers who lived at the construction site and were treated as minor nobility and peasants who worked on the pyramids as a way of paying their yearly tax. The skilled laborers were paid in bread, meat, beer, make-up and gold as money had not yet been invented. Keops pyramid, also known as the Great Pyramid of Giza, took about 50 years to complete. As to how they managed to get shape right, trial and error. If any of you lot go to Egypt (and it would be a sick Sidemen Sunday) you can visit the early pyramids and see how they progressed through time. The first attempts at pyramids had a square top and were very small, they're known as mastabas. Then as time progressed they tried building stepped pyramids, like the Aztec ones you see at Cholula (another sick Sidemen Sunday idea), then they moved on to small pyramids like we know them today. The first attempts at smooth pyramids failed kind of horribly and you will see that some of them bend inwards halfway through, like they go from a 30 degree angle to a 60 degree angle, because the base was too small and could not support the full height of the pyramid. When people show the pyramids they always show Keops pyramid which the largest ever, but that pyramid was the result of over 1000 years of pyramid building and experimentation by the point it was completed. For reference 1000 years is about as long as England has been a unified kingdom.

This is precisely it. There is still some contention with minor details, but the puzzle has been mostly filled in. One thing I'd like to add is that there was some evidence discovered that, at certain points in construction, they had ramps inside the pyramid which is how they manage to move a giant slab, which serves as the ceiling on the pharaohs chamber, into place. I say this because that was one of the few true remaining mysteries of the construction process. There is some other evidence linked to that which is escaping me as well. The reason it has not been definitively "proven" is that the evidence, which was as a result of some scanning (ironically given the vid), was found in the late 2000s. The Arab spring then happened in 2011 and political instability prevented archeologists from going back to finish their findings. After things died down, there is now currently an Egyptian researcher who is essentially gatekeeping the site for reasons that again escape me, but I think has to do with money and/or the prestige of the discovery ie I think he wants more credit than he is due. Some form of "corruption" anyway. A sad state of affairs.
@siefnour10172 ай бұрын
@@roronoazorro9509Yeah Egypt as a whole is in a bad state atm, coming from an Egyptian still living here. I don't keep up with the archaeological findings at Giza, but i wouldn't be surprised that the government is preventing further discoveries. The tourist attraction of the pyramids of Giza is also not really presitigious or classy at all atm. I wish it was, but its not. Its probably not a good idea for the Sidemen to visit it, if i'm being honest.

The whole thing about light and sound across the table doesn't really work the way explained. Due to the fact the distance of the person across the table, the effect of the change in speed is negligible as the brain takes half a second to begin processing and at that point both light and sound have arrived. It is noticeable at a distance as that change in speed and distance means the brain fully processes light before sound arrives. You also have to think about the fact that sound travels at about 333m/s while light travels at about 300,000,000m/s so it is about a million times faster

1:40 To answer Harry’s question there wasn’t just one extinction event (the meteor), but several. I think we’re at 4/5 not sure, but a lot of the later dinosaurs were wiped out by the meteor, but others before were wiped out because of ice ages or floods or other huge weather shifts. Think 50 million years of evolution to get huge animals, the weather cools so everything is frozen, all the big animals die, when the sun comes back after a couple of decades/centuries, the smaller animals thrive and grow bigger until they’re wiped out by another weather phenomenon. Also yes, dinosaurs layer eggs. A trex would have secs the same ways an ostrich or chicken would, because they’re all bird-related species.

8:58 Harry is right, the time between sound and light going to your brain is negligible. Because someone talking is usually right in front of you. Light travels 299,792,458 m/s and sound travels slower at 343 m/s. It takes sound just under 3 thousandths of a second (0.0029s) to travel a meter, in the case that the person you're talking with is one meter away. For light it will travel one meter in 0.0000000335s which is much faster than sound of course, however your brain will not be able to notice a difference at such small time intervals. And when you move farther away from the sound and light being emitted, such as a firework in the sky, there is a clear delay from when you see the firework explode and when you hear it. This is also why lightning always comes before thunder. idk why the video says that it syncs it up in your brain, just false. Loved the video tho! keep em coming!

10:00 behz, the max delay our brains can sync is 100 milliseconds, that's why as harry said...(I'm not gonna explain, you already know what i mean) And also why the sound of lightning striking is so much more delayed than the lightning itself

The lips, sound thing is partially wrong. Yes light is faster than sound. But our brain doesn't sync anything.
