I've tended toward a black wallpaper and black lock screen for years and now I'm glad I did! I installed CalyxOS on my Pixel 4a this time last year and didn't like it, but I've been watching your videos as I gear up to install GrapheneOS on my Pixel 7. Thank you!

With wallpaper engine it's generating black colors in the app, while having a colorfull animated wallpaper :)

This may just be a problem on my end, or maybe it's that silky smooth voice of yours, but I always find myself having to increase my volume by 20+% when watching your videos. Regardless, great video as usual; I once tried out the wallpaper-based colour palette customization, but did not think about the implications!

Silky smooth 😂. Thanks for pointing that out, I boost it in post a few dbs to keep it between -6 and -12db. I'm going to up it a little more in the future. I've noticed that too, but I couldn't tell if it was just me or not hearing myself. Thank you! It's interesting once you find out what some implications could be of such a 'simple' feature.

I just installed GrapheneOS for the first time. I too was surprised to see a black screen. I thought of installing an image as wallpaper but decided the carbon black screen for GrapheneOS was aesthetically appropriate. I briefly considered that there may be some spying possibility as a result of personalized wallpaper image but didn't give it too much thought. I wasn't surprised to see this video. What on our phones ISN'T used to track us?

We need a clever website that will take your personal wallpaper and convert it into one of a set of fixed number sets.. so, a number (photo fingerprint) can be share amongst many people. Hope that makes sense.

This is fucked up. Wouldn't it be possible to implement a switch in graphene-os to always report blackx6 if an app requests these colors?

That would be an interesting feature. I think part of it is that it would break the wallpaper color theming, but that would be handy as a toggle.

This is really interesting and I didn't even consider this. However, this would only be able to be used to track you between apps used on the same device, no? Personally I don't see it as a huge privacy risk unless I'm missing a big point.

Calendar and contacts sync working good with your videos mentioned how to sync. If you are syncing joplin and nextcloud, share us how to do it. i tried but getting some errors.

sounds like graphene just needs to spoof that function (by default, and offer the stock implementation as a non-default option) so people can just set their wallpapers again. it's all so tiresome.
