I’m a 45yr old man now, skateboarded since 1986. Fucking randomly, After a few drinks I got on KZbin to see what ever happened to one of my favorite skateboarders named Matt Hensley. Watched a short two part interview involving him. Fucking Blown away man. I worked at, then eventually ran a bar in downstate Illinois for 15yrs. I was our speaker for the Great Guinness Toast of 2007. After we eventually discovered this song it became a tradition to play it once a year for the occasion. Its only now as of Friday January 15, 2021, 2:58am that this rabbit hole of KZbin experience led me to great happiness. My favorite skater is a member of an absolutely amazing band we’ve listened to for years. Matt Hensley I applaud you. In an ironic twist, my girlfriends son has wanted to learn how to skate. Yesterday evening I went to our local skate shop to price out a complete for him. Then I came home with a remastered copy of Tony Hawk 1 and 2 for the PS4 . Weird timing, amazing timing. I actually told her son nobody during my skate period could Ollie as high as you, let alone pull off crazy shit. You’ve never been forgotten, always talked about how rad it was to watch those H-Street videos before we all went out to skate. Full circle man. Now I sound like some crazy stepdad typing an old teen love letter. Best wishes man!

"Drunken Lullabies" Must it take a life for hateful eyes To glisten once again Five hundred years like Gelignite Have blown us all to hell What savior rests while on his cross we die Forgotten freedom burns Has the Shepard led his lambs astray to the bigot and the gun Must it take a life for hateful eyes To glisten once again Cause we find ourselves in the same old mess Singin' drunken lullabies I watch and stare as Rosin`s eyes Turn a darker shade of red And the bullet with this sniper lie In their bloody gutless cell Must we starve on crumbs from long ago Through these bars of men made steel Is it a great or little thing we fought Knelt the conscience blessed to kill Must it take a life for hateful eyes To glisten once again Cause we find ourselves in the same old mess Singin' drunken lullabies Ah, but maybe it`s the way you were taught Or maybe it`s the way we fought But a smile never grins without tears to begin For each kiss is a cry we all lost Though there is nothing left to gain But for the banshee that stole the grave Cause we find ourselves in the same old mess Singin' drunken lullabies I sit in and dwell on faces past Like memories seem to fade No colour left but black and white And soon will all turn grey But may these shadows rise to walk again With lessons truly learnt When the blossom flowers in each our hearts Shall beat a new found flame Must it take a life for hateful eyes To glisten once again Cause we find ourselves in the same old mess Singin' drunken lullabies Cause we find ourselves in the same old mess Singin' drunken lullabies Singin' drunken lullabies

Got my skateboard back in the late 2000s. After that, I learned to live, film, explore... Almost got a Student Oscar, skated my heart out, found myself, and put a lot of things on pause-including skating. But I'm still embracing life as a punk and an artist. Life is ahead, life is behind, but this song has stayed with me through it all. It helped me grow up and realize some things as I kept coming back to it. Here's to another 20 years of living and reflecting on it! Wars and nations may be wrong, but music is real! Cheers-because we all find ourselves in the same old mess - singin' drunken lullabies!

I saw them a very long time ago in Austin, that was when I knew I loved my wife that I hadn't married yet, because I was having a great time but she wasn't there with me, so it felt worthless. Great band live.

Really good song for an intermediate bass player. This would be tough for a begginer. Really fun to jam to for sure. Im 45 play a lot of punk music and i always play this song as a warm up its just a really fun song
