2 years ago on this day I lost my little brother to suicide. My brother and I tried to stop him right up to the very end... I am from Crossmaglen up in South Armagh and I left for the states cause i was sick of the state the north was and is in, I dont really like the American Irish bands especially the Fenians . But I also dont like Celtic Punk like how the Murphys take a folk song and put it into some punk format. Personally the best American Celtic band is Schooner Fare out of Maine. I also hate certain things about Plastic Paddies like the fact that they drink Irish Car Bombs on St. Pádraig's day or how they yell Tiocfaidh ár lá! when they hear someone sing something as simple as Rattlin Bog. All in all this song is class and I like it and I can see where the Paddy you met got all fondered but hey sometimes you got to sit back and let people be happy. I have a tattoo in honor of my grandmother. She was the biggest supporter in my life, and I miss her everyday. She accepted me after I was diagnosed with schizophrenia. All my odd habits and OCD's she didn't care. I'm going to get tattoos soon to honor my dogs and cat that passed away. They saved me more times than I care to count.

Sounds like the perfect reason to do it. But Schizophrenia isn't the worst thing that could happen to you. Comes with its own special challenges, but treatment works reasonably well. Not a stigma anymore. Don't worry too much, just do what you need to feel decent.

While I canno't speak in their names, I do know what it can be to live with someone with a "mental ilness" (probably not the best term to use, sorry if it offends you it was not the purpose). While it can be a "long journey to understand'", in the end your point of view will never be less important. Yes most of the people canno't understand how you feel, what you think... But in the end, it is not you that should adapt yourself but our societies (the plural form here is important). Be free my friend, do not stand alone and then, I hope, you shall find the assistance you need. (It not a statement against medication or pro-medication, I'm not a specialist. All I know is that people in your situation or alike-situation "need" to have friends or relative to support you. And if you can't, well I hope that in your coutry you can call associationns or collective organisations who knows what they talk about) I wish you the best, and if not do not forget that you are never alone

The summer before my freshman year of highschool, i was at bandcamp and was completely out of my depth. Looking back it wasnt that bad but at the time my chubby freshman self was on the verge of givint up. Then one night, i was listening to music and this song came on. It made me think of my Uncle, who passed a few years before. Since hearing it, i have been listening to it before any sort of competion. No matter where ive had a competetion, whether it be a national competiton in Indianapolis, a high school exhibition, or anything else, this has been the last song i would listen to. He gave me a Pogues CD shortly there after. While we've both been through our own hells since then, I'd like to imagine we could share this (and that) band still.
