Looks like it works great ! we also use roller decks for recoveries and we have no issue using bed winch and side pulling off back of deck with a snatch block designed to anchor in rear bed hole . It does eliminate the extra step of hooking the second line to secure car on level ground

These videos are awesome. Just purchased a 2018 KW with a century, and the sp9000. Amazing product. The limits are almost endless.

I have watched all 10 episodes of this series showcasing the SidePuller - what a remarkable vehicle. Your recovery techniques are top class and I wish I had one of these when I was working back in Cornwall, England. Those days are long gone now, but I do miss working in rescue and recovery. I shall be watching more of your videos as time goes. Best wishes from Ireland (moved over here to an isolated area in West Cork when I had to stop working due to health reasons) Mike

Very slick, well thought out, well made product. Changed my thoughts on a rollback. I'm not a tow/recovery driver but I'd have one if i was.

Really not necessary at all, Would be nice to have, Definitely would be nice to have stabilizers and a 2nd winch line, but for the side puller aspect itself it really doesn't change anything, the big take away is the 2nd winch and the stabilizers, but still not necessary I do recovery work and i've never used a side puller of any type, that being said occasionally a wrecker does have to be called out not for the geometry of the rigging but for resistance exceeding my working load limits, so I do wonder if a side puller could save me that extra guy and extra truck on scene during some calls, my guess it that it would save me that call but even then it's not really common enough for me to 100 percent jump on and buy a side puller, although I wish i had a reason to because they are badass... I'd have one if you didn't have to extend the frame or push the bed rails back to install it.

@@towtruckaj i get it. Would depend on locations where your doin a lot of recoveries too i guess. It would have to justify itself for sure!! Stay safe out there and thanks for doin that job

When pulling the rear of the car around from the back of the truck the operator should not be standing between the car and truck...wire rope could break or something else causing serious injury.Also dangerous to stand on the traffic side to operate the mechanical controls of the bed.He should be using the remote control for the bed if it has one.

I star me new job towing and they assign me a truck like this I been towing 10 years but this is amazing. I think I can do it 👍 tanks for the información

Only negative comment from me is that the operaer shouldn't stand inside the wire triangle when he turned the rear of the car. If some snaps off, he would be in the danger zone.

I have no doubt that the Truck is capable of doing the job but our company would never sacrifice any element of safety by sending a single person on a recovery. Further, here where we operate in southern Oregon you can not close a lane without traffic control personnel in place.

I got to say more useful than using a rotator unless of course if the steep was greater than what the SP could handle then the rotator would need to be called in. But as you showed this allows better options in most instances where as you mentioned the truck would be used across the whole road but no need to call in the rotator unless as I said its a scenario beyond the SP capability.
@towtruckaj4 жыл бұрын
I don't see any instance in similar circumstances where a rotator needs to be called it, At best a heavy-duty wrecker, Even with a full-size pickup up a 45 up to the body in the mud a heavy-duty and a side pull would be more than adequate, And for a car as shown I don't see any circumstances where even a medium-duty wouldn't cover it, But a diesel full-size pickup up to the body in mud at a 45 would be like 30k lbs of resistance and I know for a fact a heavy-duty wrecker can do that, a rotator would make it easier but I feel like you rotator guys just fish for a reason to pull out the truck that you can bill 1000 for just to arrive on scene.

Should have a remote for the side puller and bed winch. The operator was in the danger zone during that recovery. Other than that it was a great recovery.

The resistance is somewhere in the ball park of 3,000-4,000 lbs, my guess about 3,500 to put that into perspective.

Must not know that can use winch from wrecker and a snatch block for same result
@towtruckaj3 жыл бұрын
You absolutely cannot replicate some advanced rigging with a side puller with a single winch and a snatch block, You can do most any job yes, but some of the advanced rigging that makes something easier, safer, or causes less damage that can be done with a side puller is simply not possible with just a snatch block and one winch, for example look for the video of the guy that ziplined a motorcycle from down a hill up to his truck, that would be impossible with a single winch rollback and a snatch block.

@@towtruckaj well a 46+ year guy I know would say otherwise....if not for fact he hates computers I'd have him respond personally and the zip line guy...I beg to differ...maybe need to use a different setup...but still possible
@towtruckaj3 жыл бұрын
@@abby989 I don't care what any 46 year old guy you know thinks on the topic, Fact of the matter is like I said most any job is possible without, I have done thousands of recoveries without a side puller and I've never once failed to get them done, But as I said some advanced rigging that makes a task easier, safer, etc is not possible with one winch, Explain to me how you would zipline a 1000 lb bike up a hill with one winch line... I have seen quite a bit of shit, The fact is a side puller is far from a necessity but it is also far from useless and can be a very versatile tool to have in a fleet.
