Here is my thought on this... I'm having trouble figuring out why you would want to do it this way, and if you HAD to... why would you not low pull from the outrigger? Especially! If it was an older vehicle. The ball joints are not designed to be pulled in that way anyway. Though we do it during recovery, being a professional I always think how can I be easy on it. Low pull from about the height of the wheel and straight pull with the pull on both upper and lower ball joints equal instead up high pulling and putting all of the stress on mostly the lower and possibly pulling it out and further damaging after ripping it out. Also... Low pull if it does brake anything it's pulling straight away and not up.. I don't know. Maybe I think to much...

Or you could just use a snatch block to the end pockets on the bed seeing as you would have to load it anyway and a snatch block would easily pull it out and load it at the same time...

@@larrygonzales7410 I give these side pullers so much shit lmao, They are cool for sure, And they can be useful most definitely, but these side puller guys just use any fuckin excuse to use it and act like only they could do it with their side puller, the only time it's really actually useful is for 1 having the stiff legs, and two having a 2nd winch line on a rollback, other than that anything it can do I can do without a side puller.

Is the strap on the tire risky on raggedy cars?
@towtruckaj4 жыл бұрын
@@alexandria9246Yes and no, For like a disabled vehicle, or a vehicle parked in a public parking lot like this, generally it won't be an issue because the vehicle had to drive there on that wheel anyway, so if it weren't structurally sound chances are it wouldn't have made it, and the wheels typically are one of the strongest points to hook to for that very reason, if done correctly your wheels should be the strongest point of the car because you don't really want those coming off, manufacturers don't always accomplish that but they should, Now you would want to inspect that hook spot anyway to make sure nothing is broken like a low control arm that would make it no longer structurally sound, But for a car where there is no real visible damage to those components I don't see it being much of a problem, and realistically if the car is in bad condition the frame slots or other possible hook points aren't going to be in good condition either. But for good condition cars it's certainly a good spot, Actually just this week I winched a chevy transit van out of a ditch by just the one wheel as it was in a flowing water ditch and that's the only spot I could get to with trees and elevation change making everything else impossible to reach.

@@alexandria9246 I use a short strap on newer cars so they don't scratch coatings and rust as we live in rust belt. But as guy said if it was that bad they never drive it to pickup spot. Some ppl though will amaze u. Watch Just rolled in, shows about working on publics autos. Some I wonder after they show hoe bad, customer refuses repairs and drives home, how they made it? Some don't and break down in parking lot. And most importantly, it's DANGEROUS to all around driving in that kind of shape. I'd rather not die or see u die cause timmy wants to drive his Swiss cheese ranger in town and not fix it properly.

so who pays for the damaged steering rack and or lock pin? the front wheels were clearly force turned.
@TheVercettiTV7 жыл бұрын
I know right. Have a $150,000 truck and not pay for damages on a junk car. This SIDE PULLER is a JOKE. Just get a wrecker self loader or a big guy to push the damn car...oh wait, not really. The fucker might claim worker's compensation from injury.
@Puckgrinder857 жыл бұрын
Its a demonstration not a how to recover every vehicle situation, that's why you hire operators to make those judgement calls. Maybe the wheel was unlocked (assuming it has locking steering, most don't anymore) and wanted to get it out of the stall without pushing it back and forth 5 times to get a loading angle on it. You're looking too deep into what they are doing instead of how they are doing it, and that's the point the video in the first place. HOW you can use it is the point. We've had one, the first design actually, for like 12 years now and I've recovered a lot of really bad crashes, cars in two pieces, straight trucks in ditches, steep ravine recoveries. For 10-15K it boosts the trucks potential a lot for what you pay in money. In most places you could run beds with sidepullers and not ever have the need for a wrecker. For that odd job you may need one and you are a large company you'll probably have heavies standing by anyhow and can just use one of those.

Ive drug thousands of cars just like that and never once damaged a Steering Rack. It'll be Ok

If they have to drag it out of a spot its either because it has to be done for a wrecked or a transmission locked car or you were parked illegally or being repossessed. In any of those cases, your wheels being dragged is the least of your problems

I'll stick with GoJacks and snatch blocks.

I'd stick with the snatch block go jacks are just another tool to carry and more time to deploy when really I snatch block will do it, Skates if you want it to slide better, far more compact.

That just seems too complicated... Why not just tow trucks like they do in London..
@towtruckaj4 жыл бұрын
Versatility. That's pretty much the reason, We don't have roads or parking like london, For some vehicles, it very would make the job easier, parallel parked vehicles it would make easier for sure, but then you got to pull the car from 100 foot down in a ditch and that truck is no longer useful at all, And actually calls where a truck such as in london would make it easier are far out numbered by the calls where I would need my normal rollback truck, I almost never have a car where the london style truck would be better, and those I do get aren't difficult to load either, it just takes a little bit more time.
