Now that I've just returned from my first visit to Tunisia, I thought I'd come back and re-watch this series! I have to say that I fell in love with Sidi Bou Said, but I enjoyed strolling around the backstreets and alleyways the most. It seems that most visitors just stick to that one main street, and ignore the beautiful, quiet parts of town, which I pretty much had to myself on the day I visited. I do have to say though, Gabriel, 50 Dinar for a taxi from Central Tunis to Sidi Bou Said??? I flagged down a taxi from next to the tall clock in the city centre, and was dropped off at the exact same place as you, and it cost me 12 Dinar!

Someone was following me around in New York city that one evening. I happened to see a pharmacy that had a security guard at the door (Times Square). I stopped next to him and the guy walked away. The guard asked me if everything was ok. "Yeah, thanks. This guy was following me and I figured he wouldn't care for the uniform when he would see you". Never saw the stalker again.

Hi Gabriel, Interesting town talk about hustle it sounded like the French Tunisian woman wanted to do that's something you have to be aware of because that could be a setup and then you get robbed by somebody down the alley. I would think the hardest thing to do is travel alone, you must be extremely careful not to get into a problem you can't get out of.

Its a relatively small country where the police has a lot of power and information, and many of them are actually in civil clothing. It has its pros for foreigners and its cons for locals but all in all safety is not an issue except for the common pickpockets that happen in all tourist destinations all around the world.

I'm happy with it in bright sunlight. In lower lighting it doesn't perform nearly as well. Overall I prefer it to the Gopro. But all of the action cameras perform poorly in low light, the lens is too small to let in enough light.

I'm not up to speed on Tunisia's political situation but for some reason thought there had been some instability recently. That having been said, am surprised how westernized some of the women look, Yes, there are also women in traditional Islamic dress, but it's almost like you could be in parts of Europe the way many others are dressed. Overall, am pleasantly surprised about the place in general. With the exception of the one potentially bad situation, you didn't seem to get hassled very much like you did in say, Morocco, either.

I simply said I’ve seen more attractive Greek towns than this one which is merely an opinion. And secondly, Said Sou Sidi did in fact copy a Greek town - Santorini. You are misinformed and bias if you think otherwise; Santorini was founded centuries earlier before Said Sou Sidi was founded. So maybe, it’s you who should learn more about history. Lastly, i’m not from any Arab country, not sure why you’d assume that. Thank you for your comment. I did not consider it disrespectful, it was merely a fact that was stated. Regardless of the time it takes, one may not wish to wake up that early in the morning. I experienced the same thing in Instambul. It took longer than 1 or 2 minutes and for some it is very difficult to go back to sleep and rest a little longer:) In sharing an experience others will be aware of specific facts and given the chance of choosing according to what their interests and needs are.

@@bbrtttr3116 I know some people are poor but it is awful to be hassled. Years ago my Dad was robbed I think in Tunis because it was in a church so probably the big church in Tunis. He had given a young boy some money outside the church and in the church a guide was showing him and a few other tourists around. He saw the young boy in the church and he just walked by but a few seconds later my Dad realised his wallet was gone from a side pocket in his trousers! How he robbed it my Dad does not know! Luckily Dad had Passport and Travellers Cheques back at the hotel. But young boy did get a good amount of cash. You can be robbed anywhere but away from home it is more upsetting especially if you lose cards and documents.

There is a console that displays the price in the taxi, that's what you should pay, and make sure the driver switches it on .. Interesting point. The buildings in Sidi Bou Said were painted blue and white in the 1920s. In 1938 the Greek government mandated the homes be painted white during a cholera outbreak as a disinfectant. However it's not clear when exactly they first started painting their homes blue and white, maybe it was actually before that rule was made. @@michaelahass2695 im sorry to hear that,i dont know about the frog thing 😂 XD but even if you are a tourist you should be careful from where you buy things (usually the shops full of people,buyers,and the big malls are the best),in suqs and stuff people will try hard to make you buy from them (a poor man standing in the sun for hours,he ll do anything to sell his stuff and go home to feed his family wont care about you if what you bought is good or not :') )this happens even to the locals[especially in the touristic areas even for tunisians,in non touristic cities you can walk around calmly without finding any of these people] that's why they be selective and saying no is no harm. Im tunisian and i so feel happy when people visit my country ❤
