Official language is not the same as National language. After independence English in India was the official language. English was never accepted as national language and Hindi is not the national language of India, as per any section of Indian constitution. India does not need one national language and is not the same as having national flag, national anthem etc. which are in the nature of distinctly identifying and unifying aspects of the nation and it's citizens. Example is Pakistan which had to eventually disintgrate when language became one of the key issues by strong opposition to the implementation of urdu. Vasudeva Kutumbakam! Vandematram!! Jai Hind!!!
