Adding Crosby wouldn't be the difference maker. The first issue is getting a true #1 d-man and a very solid2-way defenseman as well. The leafs d-core offensive ability is one of the worst in the league for any playoff team. Why do you think it's so easy to shutdown the forward group in the playoffs, they have no threat from the point whatsoever. When the playoffs start and the good PK teams meet the leafs they have ZERO worries about the point. Knies is also a must on the top PP because he is the only leaf that can stand in front of the net an stay there.

If the Leafs were constantly getting to the 3rd and 4th rounds and just needed something extra to get over the hump to win the cup, then maybe I’d entertain a thought like trading for Crosby. But, they can’t even make it out of the first round, and when they do they get demolished in the second. The stars on our team need to prove THEY can do something first.
