Such an amazingly passionate movie...and not A SINGLE Academy Award nomination. Absurd! Sidney gave his heart and soul for this role. Not even Denzel could capture Walter Lee's pain like Poitier did.

I waited 6hrs in that trian station, 6hrs the man wept....Sidney screamed willie ...willie.what i hear in that scream is :man i failed my family.disobeyed my mom. my dads hardworking sacrifice,all to a conartist so called friend.ill never live this down.and if I ever catch you willie...i rewatch this scene many times.

He definitely messed up! All three should have gone. Sydney should have kept his money in his wallet until it was confirmed the deal was legitimate. That was a lot of money back then but imagine how much it was in today's dollars! Thanks for commenting!

There have been other adaptations of this brilliant film. But this one is the absolute best. Danny Glover did great, Diddy....(no comment) but nobody did this scene better than Mr. Poitier and Ms. Phylicia Rashad and Ms. Esther Rolle were EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT but its something about Ms. Claudia McNeil. The way she looked at him when she walked out of that room WOW. And I adored Ms. Ruby Dee A Raisin In The Sun is one of my top 3 favorite movies of all time.

As I watch this, I’m reminded of the strength of black women, and how black men somehow always let them down. Unfortunately, this is the case in my own personal life too. After all that, he clings to his mother, a strong black woman who he expects will comfort him after she trusted him to the right thing. In my own life, my father chased women all his life rather focus on the most important thing…his family. And now that I’m older, and successful and after becoming a nurse practitioner, he expects me to act as if he had something to do with my success. But it was the Black Women in my life who gave me knowledge, confidence, intelligence, integrity and courage for me to become the man I am today. As a Black man, all I can do is apologize to all Black Women who have been wronged by Black men who failed them to be who they needed them to be. The way I show appreciation to my mom, my grandmothers, and all my aunts, is continue to make them proud and help them as much as I can financially, emotionally and be there when they need me most.
