Do i need the wifi box to use crmx function, or can i do this only using iPad and the light?

You don't have to have the Wi-Fi box but its better than Bluetooth range. If your light has built-in crmx or a timo chip you could just use the Bluetooth on the iPad. If it didn't then a receiver like the lumen radio moonlight unit is a work around. Plug that into the light if your light doesn't have Crmx then use ipad to control it, and has pretty good range.
