@@ProjectPast1565 A Union Officer at Chattanooga remarked that before Grant arrived it was chaos and disorder in the Army Cumberland and after Grant chaos gave way to order and discipline. Inaction turned into action. The hallmarks of Union General US Grant.

Indeed. Lots of adversity. The Battle Above the Clouds from the emerging civil war book series has great info about the state of the Army before Grant arrived.

Great to see Brown's Ferry get covered in depth. Its often only given a few passing remarks in most studies of the Battles for Chattanooga.

A neat spot with historical significance. It was such a peaceful and beautiful location to visit. Well done my friend showing us where the main supply route was established. Just wish there was access to the other side of the river .

Really enjoy your channel , your a good informative host , but while you were at Browns Ferry Crossing , on the Confederate side , when Grant , Smith and Thomas were sitting there didnt the rebs on the other side see them and recognize Grant and salute him ? Something like that and salute him and hollared at him ?
@ProjectPast1565Ай бұрын
@@genemcclintock7209 I haven’t heard that. But what I did read in Emerging Civil War’s book “Battle Above The Clouds” was that Grant noted a picket station, fully visible and that “these rebels made no effort to pick off what appeared to be just a group of curious Yankees admiring the view”. Grant would also be quoted as saying “they did not fire upon us nor seem to be disturbed by our presence they must’ve seen that we were all commissioned officers.” Thanks for watching and I appreciate the kind words.

Earlier this year I spent 2 days exploring Chickamauga. Clearly 2 days was not enough 😁
