How can it be a Black and Decker when the saw is Makita Blue ?

That's a bad effect of the light when I recorded the videos ;S... in reality the colour is slightly different, but close to Makita's.

I found one of these in the trash at work, it's in really good condition, clean, and seems to work, but the button is a bit funny, not like I'd be used to... When you press the button, the motor comes on, but the button stays in and the motor keeps running when you take your finger off the button. You have to pull the button back out to make the motor stop. I presume this isn't normal behaviour?

Hello Tam!, thank you for your comment. If the switch is still the same as is this video, then yours is not working properly...for safety reasons, when you release the switch, the motor must stop. Please, upload a video of yours!. I wish this helps you to get it running as it should. Best regards from Argentina!.

@@mas.herramientas Thanks for the reply, and for confirming what I thought. I took the switch out, and it does look the same as in your video (Bremas A 202/MA). I think mine just needs a good clean, and greased up with clean lubricant. The springs are strong, and no obvious damage or corrosion to the pieces. I'll have a go at cleaning it out during the week. The other thing I'll need to look at is the blade guard. It doesn't snap back, but this is with me testing without power on and no blade attached, maybe it needs powered rotation to snap the guard back to cover the blade? These saws are very heavy, and from what I've seen, built using well made components. Not sure what me making a video would add, your video is comprehensive enough for anyone who needs to see how these are put together.

@@polyfusion Hello Tam, great!, make a good maintenance to that switch to get it running again as it should. Then, the blade guard in this machine springs back with a spring that it is cased inside the pivot point....is not like a regular spring located outside like traditional saws. It's 98% possible that it has slipped out of the place where this spring must lock, to provide the necessary tension when you open the blade guard. I am pleased and glad to know that my video is helping you and others who have this same machine...that was the aim and purpose of it since the very beginning. Let me know your your progress! Best regards and have a great week.

@@mas.herramientas Yep, took the switch apart, and there was some very fine sawdust, which had mixed with some oil in the switch along the metal channel between the button and the switch box, and was likely causing too much friction for the spring to overcome when released. It seems there is some oil in the switch, I presume to reduce wear on the nylon parts in the switch, and just help keep things moving as they should. Anyway, I cleaned out the sawdust, reassembled, and the switch springs back every time now. Like new. I will have another look at the part in your video about the blade guard, and tackle that at the weekend when I have more time. I wasn't sure if there is a spring, or some type of clutch to cause it to return, we had one that worked in that way before. I was wondering about when these saws were being made, and was thinking early 80's before I read the rest of your description. I don't know where this model places in their range quality of the time, but it is pretty good quality, and compares well with the best of quality available today, I think. Have you ever found a manual/users guide for this model?
