Owned a Sierra 3dr and my m8 had an Escort.Having driven both we agreed that Sierra is quicker top end and through the gears acceleration but Escort was much more sure footed on the twisty stuff. Never had or driven the Focus to compare,but the sierra imo is still the Daddy.

so there saying Ford have come a long way from the mk1 Focus rs because it has gone from 225bhp they reckon to 300? first off the mk1 has 212 from the factory not 225 and secondly the mk2 hasn't really been a huge development engine wise, The mk1 was based on a standard 2.0 zetec putting out 130bhp, the mk2 has a volvo developed and built 2.5 I5, which has been used in the v70,s60 and c30, they were churning out 300bhp at least 6 years before ford started using them,

Ford should go back to it's roots and create a modern equivalent of MK1 Escort RS2000. There is a gap on the market, because there is not RWD Hot Hatch. It would be so awesome to drive a small car which weights around 1 ton, have at least 150PS petrol engine and rear wheel drive. If I could drive such a car regularly I would be as happily waving my tail over corners as a little puppy. Don't you think there is a need for something like that?
